Job Overview: The VTVLC Teacher will be an experienced educator with the skill to engage students in an online setting. The educator will be dedicated to helping students gain skills in both their content area and online learning. They will be able to modify existing online curriculum to differentiate as necessary increase accessibility and enrich learning. This role will teach daily synchronous sessions using best practices to engage students as well as assign and assess weekly asynchronous work. This role will connect with families to regularly update them on students progress challenges and successes. The teacher will provide timely and specific feedback to students on their work and complete regular individual Discussionbased Assessments to assess learning. They will ensure that students with online classroom accommodations receive them in the online classroom appropriately. Responsibilities:Teach and engage students utilizing best practices for online instruction.Provide a supportive inclusive online learning environment including coaching students to improve executive functioning skills and building a sense of belonging and community.Set up and maintain your online courses in the Canvas shell.Work with the provided online curriculum in the Canvas LMS to differentiate and expand as necessary for current students. This will include creating online pages assessments and discussions.Complete necessary administrative duties including taking attendance communicating with stakeholders in the required amount of time complete report cards attend parent conferences review IEP / 504s among other requirements.Attend VTVLC inservice training both online and in person.Communicate regularly with students family and their school including using the SIS to log and initiate important conversations with students and stakeholders.Consult with the Director of Special Education as necessary to determine how to apply accommodations appropriately in the online classroom. Provide information for the Director of Special Education as necessary for IEP / 504 meetings at the students local supporting school.Work with the Administration and other supports when students are not attending or engaging in learning to ensure that students receive necessary support and placement. Develop an ageappropriate instructional schedule in coordination with the Principal to ensure sufficient synchronous classroom times small group and individual meeting times. Have a welllit distractionfree environment to conduct synchronous lessons including reliable Internet access that is capable of handling a telecommunications call with video.Other duties as assigned.
