Segue Institute for Learning Public Charter School DistrictPosition: Certified Reading SpecialistLocation: Segue Institute for Learning Central Falls RIPosition Type: FullTime Position; 11month (August 1st June 30th)Salary Range: Aligned to Teacher Salary Scale This job description has been prepared to assist in evaluating various classes of responsibilities skills and working conditions. It indicates the kinds of tasks and levels of work difficulty required of the Certified Reading Specialist at the Segue Institute for Learning.It is not intended to limit or modify the right of any supervisor to assign direct and control the work of employees under his/her supervision. The Segue Institute for Learning is a safe and nurturing environment that promotes diversity encourages individual growth and allows students to view themselves as citizens of change in their homes and community.POSITION OVERVIEW:The Segue Institute for Learning Public Charter School District is seeking a dedicated and qualified Certified Reading Specialist to join our team. This position will play a critical role in supporting the districts mission of providing highquality education to all students. The ideal candidate will be passionate about education committed to student success and capable of working collaboratively in a dynamic environment. GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:Guide and support classroom teachers in planning and implementing state/district literacy standards and highquality literacy curriculumGuide and support middle school classroom teachers with the interpretation of students needs and progress in the academic settingGuide and support classroom teachers in organizing classrooms and choosing appropriate and meaningful supplemental materials for effective learningConduct or schedule staff development activities related to literacyServe as instructional coach and content advisor to teachersImplement district coaching model with caseload of teachersConduct demonstration/model lessons for teachers teams of teachers or departmentsWork with teachers to develop formative summative and performance based assessments that align with the state literacy standardsWork with administration and other instructional coaches to analyze school achievement data to support and direct schoolwide literacy performanceWork administration and other instructional coaches analyze individual student achievement data to plan implement and modify as needed appropriate intervention programs based on student need.Provide direct service (literacy interventions) to students needing Tier 2 / 3 interventions within the classroom as well as during intervention blocks.Work collaboratively with the schoollevel academic team to organize and schedule professional development sessions for teachers.Dedicate half time to Title I duties including providing literacy interventions for Title I students providing teachers of Title I students support in unit design lesson planning and assessment and coordinating parent contact for Title I students via phone email conferences and workshops.SKILLS:Strong communication and interpersonal skillsProficiency in technology and educational toolsAbility to manage a classroom and engage students effectivelyStrong problemsolving and organizational skills
