Job Description

Communications Senior Manager

The Boeing Company is looking for a Communications Senior Manager supporting Boeing Defense Space and Security (BDS) to join our team in Tukwila WA.

This role will lead a team of communicators who support programs in the Mobility Surveillance and Bombers division and serve as the senior BDS communicator in the Puget Sound region. This position will oversee communications strategy planning and for the Mobility Surveillance and Bombers (MS&B) portfolio with a focus on program and meeting customer commitments while collaborating closely with the Business Development and Strategy and Phantom Works communications teammates on campaigns portfolio positioning and future capability development narratives. The position will ensure communications planning and strategies align to the BDS business and communications priorities as well as the enterprise communications priorities.

The successful candidate will have deep experience in aspects of:

  • Creating Communications objectives with strong supporting strategies

  • Business acumen

Position Responsibilities:

  • Reports to the director of MS&B and Air Dominance communications

  • Provides executive communications support to the MS&B Vice President and General Manager

  • Leads a team of Communications Specialists that provide program communications for KC46 P8 E7 VC25B B52 Executive Transport and Surveillance and any other requirements of the MS&B portfolio

  • Provides coaching mentoring and development opportunities

  • Oversees the development and of the MS&B communications plans to ensure communications resources and people are focused on activity that will advance the programs and the company towards business goals and priorities

  • Tracks plans to completion show and explain those plans in business meetings and explain how the plans support the business objective and bring value

  • Collaborates with Business Development and Strategy and Phantom Works communications teammates to ensure we are competing to win with discipline

  • Collaborates with peer managers to ensure division and business unit goals are met

  • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with Navy and Air Force Public Affairs Officers (PAOs) key supplier and industry partners business partners employees campaign vendors and reporters

  • Provides counsel to leadership teams on communications issues risks and opportunities

  • Supports relevant trade shows

  • Supports crisis communications for assigned portfolio of programs and across the business unit as needed

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • 5 years of experience in Communications (including but not limited to: Corporate Communications News Media and Public Relations)

  • 5 years of experience working in a fastpaced environment with strict deadlines

  • 3 years of experience developing and maintaining relationships and partnerships with senior executives and stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelors degree or higher

  • Experience leading teams and/or leading initiatives

  • Willing to travel both domestically and internationally

  • Willing to work variable shifts; including days evenings nights and weekends

  • Basic understanding of Boeing defense programs and experience working with U.S. Military Services public affairs officers
