Job Description
General Statement of Job
The Event Support Technician provides technical support to internal and external constituents of the University. The primary role is to assist with the operation of audio video and related technology systems in support of events scheduled in university venues or in support of official University functions at external venues.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
- Responsible for setup operation and strike of audio video and lighting equipment for oncampus events and University sponsored offcampus events.
- Maintains a positive relationship with meeting hosts and planners through effective communication.
- Monitors events and checks in on them throughout the day.
- Meets with event requestor onsite to ensure their needs are met and equipment is set up and working correctly.
- Responsible for the routine preventative maintenance and basic troubleshooting of equipment.
- Responsible user support and troubleshooting for all the audiovisual equipment in MSSU event spaces such as auditoriums theaters athletic facilities and conference rooms.
- Assists with basic operation of a theatrical rigging / fly system.
- Maintains inventory of event support equipment for the IT department.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Education Experience and Licenses
Experience operating or installing professional audio and video equipment is preferred.
Two plus years of workrelated skill knowledge or experience is required; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Valid Drivers License and the ability to meet insurance requirements for driving university provided vehicles.

While performing the duties of this job the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts; high precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; extreme heat; risk of electrical shock; and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
