Job Description
SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:Danville School seeks a head girls varsity basketball coach that will handle all aspects of the high school basketball program. The coach will also assist with coordinating the middle school program to help develop the feeder system for the high school program. The coach is responsible for teaching the athletes techniques skills and strategies that prepare the athletes for competition. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:Hold organizational meetings for team recruitment.Develop a preseason schedule for the athletes that includes; conditioning strength training and skill development..Conduct tryouts for the basketball program.Develop practice plans and schedules to help the players develop.Coach and instruct players regarding the rules regulations and skills of the game.Develop individual and team strategies for the season based on personnel.Monitor the academic progress of the studentathletes.Model good sportsmanship and appropriate conduct and expect the same from the players.Maintain good standing with the Vermont Principals Association.Complete the endofseason checklist in a timely manner.Host endofseason banquet or event for players (parents also if desired).Promote studentathletes for postseason awards Coordinate offseason training opportunities for athletes. QUALIFICATIONS:Experience as a head or assistant coach is preferred.Experience as a player is preferred.Knowledge of the techniques strategies and skills of basketball.Ability to recruit and motivate players.A passion for working with studentathletes and for basketball.
