Department Information
With an enrollment of nearly 4000 students Colorado State University Pueblo (CSU Pueblo) is a fully accredited regional comprehensive state university that provides social educational and cultural opportunities to its constituents. Designated as a Hispanic Serving Institution the University boasts a friendly student body that is among the most diverse in Colorado at over 55 percent minority. As part of the School of Engineering the civil engineering (CE) and civil engineering technology (CET) programs are two distinct undergraduate degree programs through which the School of Engineering develops competent graduates prepared to perform standard analysis and design of elements or subsystems of structures foundations transportation systems and hydraulic/hydrologic systems; are capable of conducting standard laboratory and field tests for construction materials and soils; can perform engineering or construction surveying; and have the skills to function as civil engineering construction project managers.
The School of Engineering consists of seven degree programs that collectively offer five baccalaureate degree programs two masters programs and three undergraduate minors. The baccalaureate degree majors include Civil Engineering (BSCE) Industrial and Systems Engineering (BSIE) Mechatronics Engineering (BSME) Civil Engineering Technology (BSCET) Construction Management (BS). The lone engineering technology program and the three undergraduate engineering programs are all ABET accredited. Our masters programs lead to graduate degrees in Industrial and Systems Engineering (MSISE) and Mechatronics Engineering (MSME). The School of Engineering in collaboration with the Hasan School of Business provides an opportunity for a 32 academic degree program that enables students to simultaneously earn a construction management (CM) undergraduate degree and an MBA degree within five years. Similarly students in the School of Engineering can opt for 32 academic degree programs leading to degrees in BSIE or BSME and MSME or MSISE. The School of Engineering faculty is a community of highly qualified professionals most with many years of both teaching and industry experience and many are certified in engineering specialties or licensed to practice.
The School of Engineering performs research in engineering and provides service to the college university the southern Colorado region and the world. Engineering lab spaces include a foundry metals lab machine shop a concrete and soil mechanics lab measurements lab mechatronics lab with computer workstations using NI ELVIS equipment and LabVIEW nanotechnology lab virtual reality lab 3D printing lab a robotics lab and a hydraulics lab. The faculty members are involved in research on manufacturing issues in nanotechnology 3D printing technologies logistics mathematical models for decision making and transportation systems. The School of Engineering is home to the Southern Colorado Institute of Transportation Technology.

The faculty member will teach courses in structural engineering or water and environmental engineering. In addition the individual must be willing and able to teach most of the following courses: Drafting (CAD) Surveying Engineering Dynamics Fluid Mechanics Soil Mechanics Structural Analysis Structural Steel Design and Water and Sewer system Design.
Primary Duties
Teach baccalaureate civil engineering courses (including laboratory courses) for the civil engineering and civil engineering technology degree programs in accordance with disciplinary expectations. Teaching entails full participation of the faculty member in all activities that support the teaching and learning process including: preparing and presenting course materials; assessing and evaluating student performance; supporting student success initiatives at the school college and institutional levels; providing academic support to students outside the classroom selecting and ordering text books. It also includes developing new courses recommending program modifications and making necessary adjustments to the curriculum in order to maintain its validity to the civil engineering profession and construction industry.
Engage in scholarly and creative activities that result in peerreviewable products such as project reports external and internal grant proposals conference papers seminar presentations books and/or manuals. Scholarly work should include undergraduate and graduate students in research when possible and appropriate.
Provide service to the department college institution and community by participating in such activities as student advising student recruiting serving on committees and task teams that support the shared governance of the program department college or institution. Participation in service activities includes outreach to the local community and intellectual service to the profession at local national and international levels.
Salary Range

- Ph.D. degree in civil engineering with a B.S. degree in civil engineering from an accredited university.
- Demonstrated commitment and ability to motivate educate and mentor students from a wide range of cultural and educational backgrounds similar to that of Colorado State University Pueblo.
- Ph.D. in civil engineering with a specialty in structural engineering or water resources and/or environmental Engineering or closely related engineering disciplines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Must be willing and able to teach most of the following courses: Drafting (CAD) Surveying Engineering Dynamics Fluid Mechanics Soil Mechanics Structural Analysis Structural Steel Design and Water and Sewer system Design.
- Previous postsecondary teaching experience in closely related fields.
- Teaching experience in a civil engineering or civil engineering technology program.
- Industry or research experience in field work and/or laboratory activities related to structural or water/environment area.
