General Summary
We have openings in Tallahassee Boynton Beach DeLand Ft. Myers Gainesville Jacksonville Lakeland Miami Orlando Port St. Lucie Sarasota and Tampa.
An Information Technology (IT) Senior Auditor participates in the audit analysis and testing of IT controls across all layers of computing environments such as physical operating system database network and application layers as well as enduser processes and security. The computing environments range from cuttingedge cloud computing models to shared service data centers and consortiums to individual clientserver and midrange and mainframe environments.
An employee in this class functions as an Audit Team Leader under the close supervision of an Audit Coordinator Audit Supervisor or Audit Manager.
Examples of Work Performed
- Conducts IT audits or other IT engagements at State agencies educational entities and local governmental units including but not limited to the development of the audit plan and audit program the coordination of the audit team work assignments the supervision and review of the audit teams work the review and evaluation of automated systems and internal controls necessary testing and other related procedures.
- Compiles general statistical data.
- Monitors critical IT projects as required by law.
- Determines extent of compliance with applicable law established policies plans and procedures.
- Prepares reports recommending improvements in accounting methods information systems program operations and internal and other management controls.
- Prepares recommendations for reporting suggested changes to statutory and budgetary requirements.
- Meets with governmental officials to discuss audit findings and recommendations.
- Assists in the instruction training and supervision of subordinate auditors.
- Assigns work to subordinate auditors and reviews their work.
- Assists in preparing audit programs and developing audit procedures.
- Performs other related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications
A bachelors degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in accounting and 30 semester or 45 quarter hours in excess of those required for a 4year baccalaureate degree meeting the educational requirements of the Florida State Board of Accountancy for licensure as a Certified Public Accountant and two years of relevant professional experience (one year of relevant professional experience may be substituted for the hours in excess of those required for a 4year baccalaureate degree if application was made prior to August 2 1983 to the Florida State Board of Accountancy for taking the Certified Public Accountants examination); or
A masters degree from an accredited college or university in management information systems or information studies with an emphasis in information technology and two years of relevant professional experience; or
A bachelors degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in accounting management information systems or information studies with an emphasis in information technology and three years of relevant professional experience; or
A bachelors degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in another field of study and possession of a Certified Information Systems Auditor certificate or a masters degree in business administration and three years of relevant professional experience; or
Possession of a CPA certificate accepted by the Florida State Board of Accountancy and two years of relevant professional experience.
The salary for Information Technology Senior Auditor is commensurate with experience. The Auditor General offers a competitive benefits package.
