Job Description

Job Title: Carpenter (Framing)
Location: Banff Canmore Lake Louise A.B.
Salary: $28/h $34/h
Duration: 6 weeks

Job Summary:
As a Carpenter an ideal candidate will have refined knowledge and experience within the construction industry. You will be taking a senior role on site helping guide more junior team members and delegating tasks. Clear and effective communication will be demonstrated in this role with good time management and an advanced understanding of the trade.The job will entail working in diverse settings in various environments in order to produce steady and functional structures and products. You will have good knowledge of wood properties and other carpentry materials. All applicants must be able to abide by the strict on site health and safety rules at all times.Note: Possible job share options available.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide proper training on the safe use of hand tools and power equipment.
  • Show your team the ropes from foundation to framing and everything in between.
  • Assist other trades onsite as needed.
  • Read and interpret blueprints drawings and sketches to determine specifications and calculate requirements.
  • Prepare layouts in conformance to building codes using measuring tools.
  • Measure cut shape assemble and join materials made of wood wood substitutes lightweight steel and other materials.
  • Build foundations install floor beams lay subflooring and erect walls and roof systems.
  • Fit and install trim items such as doors stairs moulding and hardware.
  • Maintain repair and renovate residences and wooden structures in mills mines hospitals industrial plants and other establishments.
  • May prepare cost estimates for clients.
Requirements
  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a Carpenter in residential or nonresidential construction.
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the job (standing for long periods of time lifting heavy loads of up to 90lbs).
  • Fall Protection
  • CSS Required
  • Red seal is desirable.
  • A valid license to drive and own vechile to transport own tools and equipment.
  • Strong customer service and frontfacing skills.
  • Knowledge in all aspects of Carpentry.
  • A good gut for heights managing a crew and working on busy high pressure job sites.
  • Aptitude in math.

Work Conditions:
This role may require you to work in all weather conditions inside and outside. Locations of work may vary within the radius of your chosen location: Sourcing your own means of transportation to and from your working location will be required. We schedule our workers on a 40 hour per week basis (MondayFriday) with pay days falling biweekly on a Friday. Shift times may vary however our usual shift is 7:30am3:30pm 8 hours). Overtime may be required on occasion and will be paid within the provincial employee pay legislation guidelines.
