About the team:

Working within the Corporate Finance & Tax Group which comprises over 90 fee earning staff across the firm theFinancial Services & Funds team (FSF) has an emphasis on Listed and Private Funds Equity Capital Markets Financial Services & Regulation and Public M&A work. In London the team sits alongside the Public Companies and Capital Markets team and Private M&A / Private Equity teams with a fourth team based in Birmingham also undertaking Private M&A and Private Equity work.The FSF team is cohesive and team members are highly responsive and focused on obtaining the best outcome for clients whilst working in a supportive and collaborative environment..

About the role:

The role will include but not be limited to:

  • Advising on a broad range of complex and evolving financial services regulatory issues (both contentious and noncontentious)
  • Assisting clients in navigating challenging conversations with regulators
  • Providing technical advice on wholesale issues (e.g. market abuse fund structuring and marketing capital raising crowdfunding and financial crime) retail issues (e.g. conduct risk the FCAs Consumer Duty consumer credit and payment services) and corporate transactional support (e.g. regulatory due diligence and change of control notifications).
  • Working crossfunctionally on structuring launching and administering financial services products in the UK and EU.
  • Guiding clients on regulatory approaches to innovative financial services and products including blockchain cryptoasset services and AI deployment.

About you:

  • Qualified lawyer with financial services regulatory experience
  • Proven ability to offer strategic insights into regulatory operations and priorities
  • Commercial and clearthinking approach to problem solving providing advice in a straightforward and practical manner.
  • A clear understanding of the importance of team work to deliver the best client service and the ability to provide evidence of this.
  • Ability and desire to engage in business development and build long term relationships.
  • Ability to work in time pressured circumstances and able to provide evidence of this.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Flexible and adaptable approach.
  • Commercial awareness.Experience of getting involved or taking responsibility for marketing initiatives including delivering training and briefing notes
