JOB PURPOSE:

The hardware integration technician is responsible for assisting with handson assembly installation maintenance and repair of car care POS hardware both inhouse and in the field. As daily issues and opportunities are presented to the Hardware Development and Integration Team the person in this role will be the frontline responder allowing the team to remain focused on scheduled project goals.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES

To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each of these essential functions at a satisfactorily level. Other essential and nonessential functions may be assigned.   • Serve as the frontline responder for remotely assisting and resolving setup and configuration issues with production hardware at the warehouse and service departments.
  • Serve as the primary resource for setup configuration and troubleshooting of inhouse R&D hardware.
  • Serve as the primary resource for hardwarerelated field issues performing initial troubleshooting and consulting with other R&D staff and/or thirdparty vendors/manufacturers as needed.
  • Assist with researching and recommending replacement components for supply chain disruptions or general obsolescence of production hardware.
  • Serve as an information gatherer and disseminator for the Hardware Development & Integration team including phone electronic and facetoface communication with other staff suppliers and customers.
  • Assist with onsite and remote deployment of new hardware products for pilot testing.
  • Recommend training process or design changes to improve the efficiency installability reliability and supportability of hardware products.
  • Organize and maintain the Hardware Lab.

  • While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently required to talk hear read stand bend lift twist reach with hands and arms to push and pull.
  • The employee is also required to climb or balance and stoop kneel crouch or crawl.
  • The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 70 pounds. When lifting or moving heavy items the employee must use lifting techniques and equipment.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision distance vision and color vision.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The position works under general direction of the manager title listed exercising discretion and independent judgment with respect to matters of significance in the department.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Associates degree in Electronics Engineering or a related field preferred. Will consider experience or demonstrated knowledge in lieu of a degree.
  • Proficiency in participating in projects of moderate complexity
  • 02 years experience with field troubleshooting of electronic electrical and mechanical devices.
  • Familiar with testing and evaluating computer hardware and software POS hardware preferred.
  • Familiarity of Windows OS and common office applications including Word Excel and Visio.
  • Basic knowledge of Windows networking including routers firewalls wireless access points and managed switches.
  • Basic proficiency with AutoCAD software.
  • Basic proficiency in technical writing.
  • Ability to effectively operate hand and power tools.
  • Discrete component level experience including resistors capacitors coils integrated circuits and embedded processors.
  • Willingness to travel by road and air with occasional overnight stays. This will include up to 15 travel.

Skill Sets:

  • Exceptional communication skills written verbal and graphical.
  • Analytical and problemsolving skills coupled with the ability to troubleshoot systems without strong supporting documentation.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of assembling and modifying thruhole and SMT PCB subassemblies with soldering and desoldering equipment.
  • Ability to work a variety of hours.
  • Ability to work with multiple people/departments to determine real needs and priorities.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a highpressure environment.
  • Ability to work in a teamoriented collaborative environment.
  • Strong customerservice orientation.
