Qualification:Ph.D. Masters degree Bachelors Degree with First class in all the preceding degrees in the appropriate branch of ECE
Experience:
Must have a minimum 12 years experience in Academia.
Must have minimum 2 years experience in a leadership position (HoD/Dean)
Must have expertise in NBA Accreditation Process NIRF NAAC
.

Purpose of the position :
To contribute to teaching &; learning process provide strong academic leadership and ensure
department growth
Scope:
The head of department will play a major role under the direction of the academic and
leadership team in achieving the departments vision and objectives in alignment with the
Institutions vision and implementing appropriate policies and procedures to ensure the
objectives are achieved.
Responsibilities
1. Lead manage and develop the department to ensure it achieves the highest
possible standards of excellence in all its activities.
2. To oversee the smooth functioning of the department and ensure consistent
provision for academic ambiance.
3. To take ownership of NBA Accreditation for the Department and ensure that
Accreditation is successfully attained.
4. To set goals for individual faculty in the criteria required by NAAC/NBA as well
as monitoring said goals.
5. To mentor and train faculty in order to upskill them in the fields of Teaching
Research Proposal writing etc.
6. HOD will actively participate in Teaching Research Publication Real world
knowledge application and Administrative work
7. HOD shall always maintain the academic standard in the departments. In
addition to the allotment of classes to the teachers he / she shall assess the
workload of the teachers lab Instructors and other technical persons in the
department requirements of staff members etc
8. He / She shall also maintain a liaison with the other departments. He / She shall
keep vigil about the quality teaching in every theoretical & practical subject as
per the syllabus of the University. The HOD shall ask the teachers to prepare lesson
planning on each subject and he / she shall monitor whether the schedule is
maintained. He / She shall prepare a list of the equipment books etc. well before
the beginning of the semester and forwarded straight to the Principal for early
procurement. He / She shall take care of conducting all the examinations
evaluation methods keeping all records of examinations as per regulations under
the guidelines of the Principal. In any case of urgency or anything related to
academic affairs which are not mentioned above the HOD shall take advice from
the Principal and shall take necessary steps
9. Teaching Effectiveness Shall ensure through the effective operation of
assessment recording and reporting systems that all students within the
departments meet agreed targets both individually and across the department and
shall ensure that schemes of work include provision for personalized learning.
10. HOD to ensure the Overall Department results to be achieved above 85 and
that all members of the department are performing as effectively and efficiently
as possible and ensure to the best of her/his ability. To initiate steps necessary for
obtaining good results through sustained efforts of the staff.
11. HOD to ensure that the staff abide by the standards and achieve the set goals as
per the academic Activity based learning Group tasks lesson planning and
Technology enabled learning Internet and ICT Techniques.
12. Facilitate and promote the development of intra and interdisciplinary academic
activity (in teaching and research).
13. HOD will provide effective leadership towards industry Institution partnership.
Organization of special lectures seminar workshops by the industry
professionals for total development of the future professionals. Interaction with
Industry and the Institute development of the students
14. Focus on the Holistic development of students and ensure that students needs
are met and learning is effective.
15. Ensure the skills and abilities of staff are used as effectively as possible make
recommendations staffing allocations to courses.
16. Support innovation in course design and delivery learning teaching and
assessment methods.
17. Ensure that the quality and standards of programmes within the departments
remit are maintained and enhanced as per the Industry needs
18. Conduct regular meetings with staff and students and timely communication with
parents.
19. Developing Resource Materials and Lab Manuals
20. Student Retention rate: Increase the eligibility of students and minimise the
dropouts/ attrition of department staff.
21. Conduct / Organise Training Programs/Refresher programs for staff and students
22. Enable and motivate department staff to attend /Organise / conduct STTP/FDP/
SDP/Workshops/ conference /symposiums to enhance the knowledge skills and
abilities of staff and also to improve the credibility of the dept.
23. Modernization of Department Has to ensure that the laboratories in the
department are well equipped and maintained according to the curriculum all the
equipment in the laboratories/ workshops must be functional to conduct the
Practicals properly.
24. Research : Encourage the faculty at all levels to enhance their competencies in
R&D activities and submit project proposals at different levels.
25. Submit funded project proposals to DST VGST AICTE etc. Effective
interaction with monitoring and collaborating agencies. Establish proper healthy
and positive rapport with the concerned industry and get projects from them.
Track the no of proposals from the department.
26. Generation of Funds through Consultancy To drive the faculty towards
consultancy that would help generate funds
.
27. Paper Publications Encourage faculty to submit papers in Journals / conferences
and file patents if the research outputs are felt new and novel. Publish 12 papers
in journals of repute per year
28. Promote Diversity equal opportunities within the department.
29. Introduce new best practices to the department.
30. Compliance Participate and update the progress of the dept in the IQAC
meetings.
31. Feedback for the department To collect feedback from existing and outgoing
students Student exit survey Alumni Survey Employer survey
32. Department Budget To prepare and manage the department budget within the
set guidelines
33. Placement of students Enable and track of the placement record of the
department
34. Ensure all the necessary training/s are provided which helps the students in
making them ready for placement
35. Shall work within the Institutions training and development team to ensure that
s/he and the members of the department keep their knowledge and expertise up
todate.
36. she/he shall represent the interests of the department within the wider management
of the Institution and participate in any collaborative arrangements with other
Institutions/ Universities which may benefit the development of the department.
