Job Description

Under general supervision this position will supervise and manage all aspects of student organizations at LMU. The purpose of this position is to advance the effectiveness of student organizations and campuswide leadership development.

Position Specific Accountabilities

Oversee all aspects of registered student organizations. Provide daytoday management including the registration and approval process event planning and management approval of requisitions and advisement on various topics including goal setting budgeting fundraising risk management membership recruitment and retention and evaluation.

Responsible for the administrative oversight and coordination of all organization advisors. Develop and implement a comprehensive training and support program for organizations advisors. Collaborate with other Student Affairs staff members that supervise areas with significant student organization representation i.e. cultural service spiritual sports fraternity and sorority.

Review and authorize event requests; evaluate potentially controversial events especially those involving alcohol and on a weekly basis coordinate the Event Planning Committee meetings.

Develop implement and evaluate educational cultural and social programs which reflect the needs of a diverse student population; train students to implement and evaluate the same.

Responsible for coordination and maintenance of LEO (the student online engagement platform) the website advertising and calendaring of campuswide programs.

Develop and implement Ignatian student leadership programs. Expand and improve the Universitys strong commitment to leadership opportunities and highquality cocurricular activities. All work in this area will be based on the Jesuit and Marymount model of service and leadership.

Perform ongoing program & training assessment for areas of responsibility. Collect and analyze data prepare and write reports for assessment and new program proposals. Prepare weekly and monthly activity reports including student participation and evaluations.

Actively participate in the production of campuswide programs events special projects and weekend activities. Promote full participation of a diverse student population in all involvement opportunities within student life. Work collaboratively with staff in the Division of Student Affairs to develop joint student programming.

Serve on the Student EXP Collaborative and other Student Affairs and Universitywide Committees. Represent LMU within professional associations and organizations. Attend relevant conferences or training programs to remain on the cutting edge in the field.

Perform other duties within the department of Student Leadership & Development or the Division of Student Affairs as assigned or requested.

Requisite Qualifications

  • Typically a Bachelors degree in higher education administration business or related field or equivalent experience. A masters degree is preferred. Incumbent will be expected to continue upgrading knowledge skills and abilities needed to keep abreast of best practices and policy changes.
  • Minimum of three years of varied programming experience preferably in a university setting. Previous student activities or student union management experience is preferred. Demonstrated ability to design and conduct training programs and previous supervision experience is also necessary.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in the areas of: the purpose and mission of Jesuit higher education and the Universitys institutional commitment to the Catholic tradition; familiarity with student workstudy programs; developmental needs of college students; college activity event planning; principles of management and staff supervision; community public relations; and conflict management/problem solving techniques.
  • Excellent communication skills verbal and written; copy editing and layout; oral presentations to diverse audiences. Demonstrated leadership skills.
  • Ability to provide assistance to students with all logistical and operational aspects of small and largescale programs. Provide sound counsel and be a positive role model for students. Work with a diverse population of faculty staff and students.
  • Demonstrated computer competency preferably knowledgeable of Microsoft systems and Anthology/Engage products.

Staff Term (Fixed Term)

Salary range

$66600.00 $86600.00 Salary commensurate with education and experience.
