Job Description:

L3Harris Technologies has an immediate opening for a Systems Engineer in Fort Wayne IN to support a growing missile warning/missile defense business. The ideal candidate for this position will be familiar with image / video processing techniques that can be implemented in low size weight and power (SWaP) space systems and will be comfortable working with teams of technical personnel.

L3Harris is looking for Systems Engineers to help design the next generation of space systems as well as improve current on orbit systems through novel image / video processing algorithms analysis and CONOPs.

Essential Functions:

• Support development of image and video processing algorithm solutions for space based infrared systems.
• Perform performance analyses of image and video processing algorithms in support of system level trade studies. Support systems engineering trade studies CONOP development and modeling/simulation efforts.
• Work alongside embedded software and firmware teams who optimize and implement algorithms for spacebased systems.
• Comfortable writing code in Python and/or C/C.
• Develop and improve instrument documentation processes and test procedures.
• Support concept of operation development and requirements analysis decomposition and generation at various levels of the system.
• Support requirements traceability and development of test plans to cover requirements.
• Support integration and test of electrooptical/infrared systems and related hardware/software.
• Provide support to engineering in developing technical specifications interface control documents test plans and procedures and test conformance to specifications.
• Support engineering in the verification of compliance to requirements and validate performance behavior.
• Utilize work experience to become Subject Matter Expert in the relative area.
• Obtain and maintain a security clearance.
  

Qualifications:

• Bachelors Degree and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.
• Experience with Python.

Preferred Additional Skills:

• Experience as part of a multidiscipline technical team.
• Experience developing embedded software / firmware.
• Experience with read/write of C/C software.
• Interpersonal and communication skills ability to interact with a cross functional team.
• Collaborationacross all levels of leadership.
• Work with general direction or supervision in a demanding environment.
• Experience with data analysis and/or modeling and simulation.
• Experience with estimating and managing costs.
• Experience architecting analyzing developing and integrating end to end systems in areas such as EO/IR RF or space payload and spacecraft bus subsystems.
• Familiarity with program management cost account management integrated product teams.
• DoD Secret Clearance.
