Job Description

VocationalCoordinator

Salary: $65631.60 Annually

Description

The Vocational Coordinator of operates as a coach trainer resource provider program manager and instructional leader. The employee reports to a Director or other higher level administrator such as the Deputy or Insular Superintendents. Work is reviewed through reports presentations or projects.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provides onsite technical assistance and support to schools in Vocational curriculum instruction technology and assessment;
  • Monitors the implementation of districtwide programs resources and services;
  • Provides technical assistance and support to schools in the development and implementation of vocational and technical initiatives and programs;
  • Assists schools through classroom visits consultation demonstration lessons and conferences.
  • Provides leadership in the development implementation and coordination of districtwide programs and resources;
  • Plans implements and/or brokers ongoing training for program personnel and teachers including new teachers and support staff;
  • Participates in curricular development and revision;
  • Coordinates the textbook selection process.
  • Keeps abreast of national professional trends and changes in related curriculum area and disseminates that information to appropriate audiences;
  • Supervises & coordinates the ordering/use of Vocational and Technical curriculum instruction technology and assessment materials/supplies and equipment;
  • Supervises and coordinates projects developed to improve student achievement.
  • Participates in the development and implementation of district programs;
  • Develops advises manages and monitors grant programs and budgetary needs as assigned;
  • Interprets and communicates program policies & procedures to the Superintendent school administrators and instructional personnel;
  • Provides leadership in planning and conducting studies;
  • Prepares monthly reports to immediate supervisor on all activities and accomplishments;
  • Reviews provides feedback and monitors the implementation of school improvement plans;
  • Develops implements and evaluates a district improvement plan;
  • Implements program policies and procedures as determined by the District and Territory;
  • Analyzes student achievement results and recommends changes to the curriculum;
  • Participates in ongoing professional development.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Masters degree from an accredited college or university with major work in the field of Vocational studies with at least three years teaching experience providing instruction to students.

Position Factors

FACTOR 1 KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of the education laws policies rules and regulations of the United States Virgin Islands.
Knowledge of the theory principles and techniques of Science instruction.
Knowledge of a variety of instructional strategies.
Knowledge of technological programs electronic printed and other available resources in order to make helpful suggestions related to students individual needs or programmatic requirements.
Knowledge of learning disabilities and methods of treatment.
Knowledge of the principles of teaching and classroom control.
Ability to select or develop instructional materials.
Ability to strive to maximize the educational achievement of each Science students.
Ability to maintain accurate and complete records as required by district policy and administrative regulations.
Ability to cooperate and share professionally with members of the administration and other staff.
Ability to maintain confidentiality about Science students in accordance with state and federal law;


FACTOR 2 SUPERVISORY CONTROLS
Works under the direct supervision or assignment of the Director of Curriculum and Instruction or district administrator. Work is controlled by routine review or reporting to and consultation with supervisor. Work is reviewed through onsite visits reports and achievement of objectives.

FACTOR 3 GUIDELINES
Guidelines incudes Federal safety and Department and procedures (HIPAA) guidelines all applicable rules and regulations policies and procedures set forth by the Department and the Government of the Virgin Islands.

FACTOR 4 COMPLEXITY
Work requires broad knowledge studied judgment in planning and performing duties to develop support Science instruction current teaching and learning methods and effective program management/administrative skills.

FACTOR 5 SCOPE AND EFFECT
The purpose of work involves the planning and implementation of instructional programs for special needs children including devising or procuring appropriate instruction of special needs students. Errors at this level will have major repercussions that will be counterproductive to a healthy teaching learning environment.

FACTOR 6 PERSONAL CONTACTS
Contacts are with federal programs managers commissioners directors other employees and financial officers students and parents.

FACTOR 7PURPOSE OF CONTACTS
Contacts are made for the purpose of exchanging or clarifying information towards accomplishing program objectives.


FACTOR 8 PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Work involves sitting and/or standing for long periods and traversing about the campus and exert some physical dexterity

FACTOR 9 WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is performed primarily in an office and classroom setting and may require some travel.
