What will your job look like

OurTravel Traineris tasked with training individuals on the utilization of public transportation. The Travel Trainer will assess for appropriateness for independent public transportation use create personalize lesson plans and educate individuals on a wide range of travel skills including: trip planning street crossing bus and train travel map and schedule reading and safety skills while utilizing public transportation. The Travel Trainer will also research identify create and present custom presentations for new referral program opportunities within the community.

This position is dependent on being awarded contract.

Location: 1347 W. Trenton Avenue Orange CA 92867

What youll do:

  • Complete inperson intake and assessment for each applicant
  • Make determinations whether or not an applicant is qualified to receive training based on the results of the assessment(s)
  • Create and provide oneonone individualized field training
  • Demonstrate and instruct individuals on transit skills
  • Demonstrate and instruct individuals on how to travel routes including navigation and wayfinding strategies
  • Instruct individuals on selfadvocacy
  • Create lesson plans that are appropriate for individuals of different learning levels
  • Research and identify opportunities to enhance the referral program within the community creating custom presentations for this outreach
  • Conduct group presentations
  • Establish relationships with professionals in the field community and advocacy organizations
  • Schedule training at the time and location of the specific routes requested
  • Conduct outreach to develop materials
  • Provide in class and inthefield training to professionals
  • Complete all reports and paperwork including but not limited to; initial intake goal setting and plan progressive evaluation pre and posttest final and followup report satisfaction survey
  • Must conform to MTMs HIPAA standards

What youll need:

Experience Education & Certifications:

  • High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent
  • Must have five 5 years experience assessing people with disabilities in how to use and navigate accessible public transportation to include bus and rail
  • Must have two 2 years experience working with clients with physical and/or cognitive functional disabilities
  • Familiarity with the American with Disabilities Act (ADA)

Skills:

  • Demonstrated training skills comfortable leading groups of people
  • Strong interpersonal skills that allow for effective working relationships
  • Intermediate level of proficiency or above with the Microsoft Office Suite including Word Excel and Outlook
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking skills
  • Ability to work flexible hours in all weather conditions
  • Ability to maintain high level of confidentiality

Even better if you have...

  • Experience working with disability and/or community advocacy organizations preferred
  • Familiarity with the transit agency system preferred
  • Associates degree in Education Human Services or Healthcare preferred

Salary Min: $66560/annually

Salary Max: $70000/annually

This information reflects the base salary pay range for this job based on current national market data. Ranges may vary based on the jobs location.
