Job Summary

The Assistant Director for Student Success and Belonging is responsible for providing leadership and direction of Student Success initiatives. The Assistant Director collaborates with other areas within the Division of the Student Experience and across the Institute to advance efforts to foster the academic success of students. The Assistant Director provides leadership in developing and implementing programs and policies which support the Institutes vision for the recruitment matriculation success and graduation of students who require assistance in bridging the gap between high school and the academic rigors of college.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Masters Degree in related field such as higher education or cultural studies
  • Two 2 years of experience in higher education to include
    • Demonstrated experience working with vulnerable student populations.
    • Knowledge of research and practice in the fields of diversity justice critical methodologies or equity in education.
    • Experience with assessment and experience working with interpersonal intercultural civic programs in higher education setting is required
    • Exposure to the design implementation and evaluation of educational programs training curricula and workshops that promote intercultural learning social identity development and student wellness.
    • Experience fostering collaboration with students faculty and staff from all backgrounds

Relevant combinations of education training and experience may be considered.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Masters Degree in sociology psychology student personnel counseling higher education or related fields

Minimum Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  • Demonstrated high degree of effective listening and communication skills verbal and written
  • Conflict Resolution skills
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully collaborate across many departments functions divisions communities
  • Experience in developing and implementing programs that are welcoming and inclusive in a higher education environment
  • Ability to articulate develop and manage program and improvement initiatives
  • Ability to provide exemplary response to a variety of constituencies while maintaining impartiality and integrity
  • Demonstrated commitment to advancing the success and sense of belonging for all students without regard to their backgrounds and experiences
  • Demonstrated experience working with communities with a focus on belonging

Shift

Business Hours: Monday Friday with evenings and weekends occasionally required during BRIDGE sessions

Starting Salary/Rate

Expected hiring range: $63000 $66000

Pay transparency disclosure: The selected candidates salary will be determined based on factors that include the available budget internal equity and the final candidates qualifications experience education and other jobrelated credentials. This hiring range is provided as Rensselaers good faith estimate of the expected hiring range at the time of posting.
