Job Description

Title: Sr. Manager Manufacturing Engineering

Key Accountabilities:

  • Manage manufacturing industrial controls project test and process improvement engineers to develop standards and processes to produce products safely with zero defects and in the shortest amount of time.
  • Oversee engineering functions to obtain optimum production and utilization of human resources machines and equipment for all machining assembly testing and painting operations.
  • Provide first call support investigation and solutions for current product engineering issues and bill of material maintenance.
  • Develop budget and cost controls for capital expenditures department budget and provide guidance with supporting departments budgets.
  • Review and analyzes production quality control maintenance and operational reports to determine causes of nonconformity with product specifications and operating or production problems.
  • Revise planning objectives and priorities to ensure production uptime during equipment or machine failures.
  • Lead complex problem solving for determining root cause and implementing countermeasures.
  • Keep management abreast of progress developments pending problems.
  • Recruit employees assign direct and evaluate their work provide training and oversee the development and maintenance of staff competence discharge staff and resolve personnel grievances.
  • Set and monitor process standards develop improvements and implement solutions.
  • Institute continuous improvement initiatives good housekeeping practices programs and systems in conjunction with the LEAN approach.
  • Interpret company policies to workers and enforce safety and environmental regulations.
  • Promote a compliance culture in area of responsibility and live the letter and the spirit of the Rolls Royce Code of Conduct.
  • Perform special projects as required.

Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree in Industrial and/or Manufacturing Engineering and 5 years of experience as an engineer or engineering manager in an industrial manufacturing environment; 9 years of experience as an engineer or engineering manager in an industrial/manufacturing environment; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • In order to be considerate for this role you must be a U.S. Citizen or a U.S. Permanent Resident.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proven Leadership skills
  • Excellent knowledge of engineering principles troubleshooting and problem solving when issues are very complex.
  • Excellent knowledge of production processes quality control costs and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture of goods.
  • Excellent knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning resource allocation human resources modeling leadership technique production methods and coordination of people and resources.
  • Excellent organizational planning and followup skills.
  • Excellent oral written and presentation communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate others.
  • Must be available to work all shifts and/or flexible hours.
  • Proficient with PC controlled systems and MS Office Suite
  • Knowledge of RollsRoyce Solutions America products policies and procedures
  • Knowledge of heavyduty diesel engine assembly.

Work Conditions:

Daily work is performed in a general manufacturing office and test cell environment. This position has a compressed work schedule (Monday through Thursday).

While performing tasks for this position the employee is regularly requested to perform work on a computer inside and occasionally outside of the work environment. Also the employee will occasionally be required to work in environmental conditions where there are fumes and dust. Finally the employee will be frequently requested to perform tasks in environmental conditions where there are unpleasant odors and gases. Please note the conditions can be hazardous.

While performing physical demands of the position occasionally the employee will be occasionally requested to stand climb balance stoop kneel crouch reach and squat. Also the employee will be regularly requested to sit within a particular work environment.Next the employee will frequently be requested to walk inside and outside the work environment. Finally an employee will be regularly requested to grasp and manipulate items in a maneuverable manner to perform daily tasks. There are no special vision requirements for this position.
