The Senior Development Scientist supports new product development by developing/codeveloping formulations and/or providing analysis and evaluation of material and products at all stages of the development process for the Centrum brand. This individual would have various levels of involvement in conventional and nonconventional solid semisolid liquid powder and other formulations.
Role Responsibilities:
Powerhouse
Proven track record of developing consumer products from concept to launch
Contributes projects in support of Brand Innovation strategy. Exercises a range of scientific expertise in accomplishing assigned objectives.
Communicates with adept business acumen with internal commercial/marketing colleagues as well as third party suppliers.
Designs experiments and carries out scientific work with an awareness of stateoftheart technology. Creates research plans to fit overall project objectives.
Ensures all work is conducted in accordance with written procedures (e.g. quality and safety) methods & batch documents etc.
Identify challenge develop and implement written procedures (e.g. quality and safety) methods & batch documents etc.
Produces or contributes to departmental quality documentation (including SOPs batch documentation validation protocols & reports).
Specific safety and quality responsibilities for department and site (e.g. GMP Audits Health & Safety).
Deliver all EHS standards and expectations on site and within the laboratories
Works with Outsourcing Leader and/or Senior Development Scientists and contractors
Facilitate completion of outsourced support activity

Highlights own training needs and working with manager develop a training plan and achieve training goals.

Participate in consumer engagement research to understand the category and needs

Maintains precise experimental records; issues report at project milestones; writes invention records to protect scientific discoveries.
Ensures all work is always conducted following good scientific practice and Good Manufacturing Practice (where required).

Flexes priorities to remain focused on objectives in rapidly changing circumstances.
Takes responsibility for specific equipment in accordance with site procedures.
Participates and may lead in general problem solving or lead problem solving initiatives
Why you
Basic Qualifications
BS degree in Nutritional Science Chemistry Pharmaceutical Chemical Engineering or related field with 68 years of experience
MS degree in Nutritional Science Chemistry Pharmaceutical Chemical Engineering or related field with 46 years of experience
Ph.D. in Food Science Chemistry Pharmaceutics Chemical Engineering or related field with 24 years of experience
GMP experience preferred but not necessary.
Demonstration of successful use of the scientific method formulation and/or product development
Flair for creativity and innovation
Basic understanding of statistics and its application to experimental work including DOE.
Ability to lead a development project team
Preferred Qualifications:
If you have the following characteristics it would be a plus:
Advanced degree (MS or Ph.D. in Pharmaceutics Nutritional Science Chemical Engineering or related field
Ability to apply scientific principles and techniques to projects.
Working knowledge of pharmaceutical manufacturing processes for oral dosage forms (powders tablets capsules softgels).
Practical knowledge of statistical software.
Experience in Design of Experiments (DOE) studies.
Ability to connect consumer needs to product development.
Practical application and technical proficiency of the R&D development processes and associated commercial environment.
Clear communicator in both oral and written form with both internal departments and external organizations.
Demonstrates ability to take initiative think and work independently problemsolve work effectively in teams and multitask.
An ability to organize and report study data from internal and external sources.
