Principal Scientist Bioanalytical Science

What you will do

Lets do this. Lets change the world. The Translational Safety and Bioanalytical Sciences (TS&BA) organization is seeking to fill a Principal Scientist position in our LCMS/MS Bioanalytical Sciences group at the Amgen Thousand Oaks site in California. In this role you will implement robust LCMS/MS bioanalytical methods to support a broad range of therapeutic agents including small molecules oligonucleotides proteins and other complex molecular entities. Given the scope of projects the role will involve multidisciplinary interactions with scientist across research and development at Amgen. The position is lab based and has significant emphasis on data management/fidelity report generation projectbased leadership and communication across multiple teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure bioanalytical data meets regulatory expectations for global submissions by maintaining accurate records and staying current with industry guidelines.
  • Develop and implement LCMS/MS bioanalytical methods with quick turnaround times.
  • Conduct small and large molecule bioanalysis in nonclinical and clinical samples from various matrices (plasma urine CSF tissues).
  • Perform biological sample extraction using SPE protein crash and/or affinity capture methodologies.
  • Author study reports standard operating procedures analytical methods memos and other regulatorycompliant documents.
  • Communicate bioanalytical data to key discovery and development teams contribute to scientific publications and present at professional meetings.

What we expect of you

Basic Qualifications:

Doctorate degree PhD OR PharmD OR MD and relevant postdoc where applicable and 2 years of relevant scientific experience

Or

Masters degree and 5 years of relevant scientific experience

Or

Bachelors degree and 7 years of relevant scientific experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in a relevant scientific discipline
  • Prior GLP and GCP experience
  • Prior experience in bioanalytical (regulated) assay and transfer to CROs
  • Strong technical expertise in quantitative mass spectrometry particularly on triple quadrupole (QQQ) platforms
  • Broad experience with an array of analytical technologies that can accelerate bioanalysis inclusive of automation low flow chromatographic approaches high resolution mass spectrometry and/or microsampling
  • Demonstrated ability to resolve scientific challenges efficiently and prioritize effectively
  • Demonstrated scientific breadth and subject matter expertise
  • Supervisory and mentoring experience in a labbased setting
  • Ability to communicate complex scientific concepts across disciplines
  • A strong background in quantitative analytical techniques
  • Demonstrated scientific excellence as evidenced by publications external commitments (committees and presentation) and other achievements
  • A desire to master bioanalytical business processes
  • Excellent scientific problemsolving skills
  • Excellent project and time management abilities
  • Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to relevant skills experience and qualifications.
