Birth defects affect 1 in 33 births in developed countries and in 50 of cases they are not detected during prenatal examinations. Prenatal medicine is particularly complex and the scans impose heavy responsibilities on healthcare professionals. They can also be a source of stress for future parents.
Resulting from 5 years of collaboration between worldrenowned experts from Necker Hospital and Ecole Polytechnique Sonio uses artificial intelligence to improve prenatal screening and diagnosis. Based on patented algorithms and a proprietary expert database Sonio aims to become the reference tool to help practitioners improve screening reduce diagnostic errors and optimize pregnant womens medical path.
Sonios mission is to improve womens and childrens health by promoting access and quality of care through technological innovation medical expertise and collective intelligence.
About the role
Our product provide realtime assistance to practitioners during fetal ultrasound examinations. We built systems that interface with ultrasound machines (multiplatform edge software) stream imaging data to our cloud (realtime web tech) interpret data and images using AI/ML and push the results back to the practitioners interface (reactive web apps) all in near realtime.
Were at a critical point in our growth where we need to scale the foundations that we built. The team is currently composed as follow:
3 Squads (soon 4 with 34 engineers per team and one lead or lead Engineering Manager per squad
A transversal team composed of:
4 Data Engineers
1 DevOps Engineers
2 QA engineers (freelance with aim to become permanent)
A Solution Engineering team that supports on presales & installation
Youll have a broad strategic focus overseeing the entire engineering organization. Defines engineering vision culture and processes to align with business objectives. Works closely with executives (CEO CTO Product and Business leaders) on companywide strategy. Working very closely with Deepak CTO. the main missions are:
Define and execute the engineering strategy in alignment with our growth and product goals.
Lead mentor and grow a highperforming engineering team. One of the key mission will be to create the engineering team lead layers for each squads. Youll be managing a large team youll set and communicate team and individual priorities priorities that support the broader organizations goals and mission. Specifically we want you do it in line with our culture between challenge and care.
Makes highlevel hiring decisions determines team structures and influences budget allocation
Establish scalable engineering processes to support rapid growth.
Oversee technical architecture infrastructure and system design to ensure scalability reliability and security.
Collaborate with product management regulatory and clinical teams to ensure rapid delivery in a regulated environment.
Provide handson technical leadership when necessary including code reviews and architectural guidance.
Take ownership of the client implementation from a tech perspective were experiencing a strong growth on the commercial side and we need to product infrastructure & processes to be ready from a tech perspective
About the profile
Sonio is a missiondriven company so interest in our mission is critical. The ideal profile has experience with some of the following:
Building/involved in building a product from scratch so going from 0 to 1
Scaling a product successfully so going from 1 to 10 at least
Managing a successful product (managing scale)
Other requirements are:
Strong knowledge of web technologies and understanding of distributed system architecture
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
You have strong management experience you are able to lead a large team with care and always ensure excellence of the output

Salary: Total package between 125k and 140k
