Description

Position Summary:
The goal of the Case Manager position is to promote continuity of care through coordinating collaborating and advocating based on students needs and serving as Assessment Team liaison to the University Counseling Center Psychiatry and Counseling teams Student Care Coordination the VU Student Health Center and community referral sources including hospitals private practitioners clinics and other mental health agencies. This position will perform initial screenings of students referred for formal psychological assessment administer and score psychological tests perform clinical interviews obtain authorization to release and obtain client information and/or medical/psychotherapy records; assist and track Assessment Team caseloads including creation of a database to track assessment trends and outcomes. This position may perform clinical activities under the supervision of a psychologist (e.g. test administration clinical interviewing focused intervention for ADHD).

This position will also develop and provide outreach programming particularly those related to neurodiversity including providing psychoeducation and health promotion aimed at students as well as staff and faculty. Other duties may include communicating and coordinating with outside providers school systems and family members and assisting students with referrals to appropriate treatment resources both before and following formal psychological assessment. Multicultural awareness and specific awareness of racial and identityrelated health equity issues and responsiveness are important components of all clinical and community outreachoriented work.

The University Counseling Center (UCC) supports the mental health needs of Vanderbilt students encouraging their work toward their academic and personal goals. Our highly skilled and multidisciplinary staff develop evidencebased treatment plans tailored to everyones unique background and needs by working together with students campus partners and community providers. The UCC also emphasizes prevention and education through collaboration and consultation focused on the development of the skills and selfawareness needed to excel in a challenging educational environment. About the Student Care Network:
The Student Care Network (SCN) is comprised of the Center for Student Wellbeing Student Care Coordination the University Counseling Center and the Student Health Center. The SCN is a holistic network of services and resources pertaining to health and wellness available to all Vanderbilt University students who have paid the Student Health Fee. As such staff within the offices comprising the SCN work collaboratively to create integrated processes referrals and treatment plans to better serve the entire student.

Key Functions and Expected Performance:
Provide clinical and case management services to students:

  • Performing Assessment Intake appointments to initiate formal psychological testing including vetting referrals and referring for other services/interventions as needed.
  • Administering psychological test scoring and completing clinical interviews.
  • Creating and maintaining a database to track assessment trends and outcomes
  • Working with the assessment team on ADHD evaluation waitlist maintenance completing documentation monitoring completion of tasks from students.
  • Engaging in case management sessions with students regarding treatment needs treatment plans or checkins prior to and/or following formal psychological assessment.
  • Providing brief targeted intervention to address ADHD symptoms (e.g. CBT for ADHD).
  • Provide coverage for clinical case management team as needed.

Development Outreach and Community Relations:

  • Provide outreach and educational programming to campus community to support campus and individual mental health wellness and skill development particularly with regard to neurodiversity.
  • Provide in training activities including case conference small group supervision and seminars to support trainee development and progress within the UCCs
    accredited training program.
  • Develop effective working relationships with the Vanderbilt community including Student Care Network entities academic deans faculty staff students families of students residential staff Student Affairs offices Vanderbilt University Police Department and other relevant campus partners and partners in the Nashville community to ensure a collaborative support network on campus to respond to student needs and optimize support and safety for Vanderbilt students.
  • Engage in professional development including presentations at pertinent conferences and workshops to expand upon and bring back skills and knowledge to the greater UCC team.

Administrative functions:

  • Scheduling of all Assessment appointments.
  • Working collaboratively on academic calendar demands that affect students.
  • Obtaining authorization to release and obtain client information and/or medical/psychotherapy/educational records.
  • Maintain appropriate and timely documentation for recordkeeping and communication with other service providers based on ethical and legal standards and requirements to enhance care for students.
  • Serve on divisional committees and working groups to enrich the experience and resources available to staff across the division.
  • Learn and comply with financial policies and procedures related to travel procurement and expense reporting in order to be a good steward of university funds.
  • Participate in divisionwide events (MoveIn Day Rites of Spring Diverse Dores Day MLK Day etc. as needed to support colleagues and ensure these events run smoothly.
  • Perform other duties necessary to enhance the student experience and/or facilitate the success of the University division or department.

Supervisory Relationships:
The position does not have any supervisory responsibility; the position reports administratively and functionally to the Director of the University Counseling Center.

Education and Certifications:
A Masters degree from an accredited institution of higher education in psychology counseling social work or other mental healthrelated field is necessary.
Eligibility for licensure in Tennessee within two years of employment is required. Current licensure in TN or another state is preferred.

Education and Certifications:

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively interact with patents/clients from diverse backgrounds is necessary.
  • Effective interpersonal skills to form and maintain meaningful relationships with students colleagues and all stakeholders is necessary.
  • Ability to function in an acute care model for assessment and management of clinical emergencies is necessary.
  • Assessment experience is preferred.
