Overview
Teaches classes provides in class support and works with students in pullout and small groups. Collaborates closely with all staff to support our ELL students across the content areas. Provides expertise in ELL best practice strategies and instructional methods for the school. Teaches clubs and other classes as needed. Performs lunch duty or other duties as assigned.
Responsibilities/duties include but are not limited to:
- Prepare implement and coteach wellorganized curricula in which students are engaged in relevant thoughtful challenging work using the WIDA standards and CanDo Descriptors in the four domains of language.
- Support students in other classes working closely with subject teachers.
- Differentiate lessons units assessments etc. based on the English language proficiency of each student through daily inclass support.
- Establish a learning environment of serious scholarship and high expectations that support students interests talents and needs.
- Employ techniques that stimulate critical (or divergent) thinking and problem solving.
- Use a variety of current technologies to enhance instruction and to advance students technological literacy.
- Administer ACCESS testing.
- Check the Rhode Island census to determine whether incoming students are in need of ELL services.
- Provide expertise professional development and collaborative support around ELL instruction to faculty and larger community.
- Meet with parents and guardians to discuss their childrens progress and to determine their priorities for their children and their language learning needs.
- Confer with other staff members to plan and schedule lessons promoting learning following approved curricula.
- Support students social emotional and academic growth in alignment with our schools Developmental Designs philosophy.
- Define communicate and uphold acceptable standards of student behavior and develop open communication mutual respect and rapport with students.
- Communicate frequently and effectively with all constituents including students staff and families.
- Fulfill time commitments.
- Spend time outside of school preparing.
- Contribute to a positive collegial environment; collaborate with colleagues.
- Strengthen skills and knowledge through reflection feedback workshops seminars and collegial sharing and participate openly and actively in professional development mentoring and coaching in a continual cycle of growth and reflection.
- Keep accurate records and complete all tasks in a timely manner.
- Demonstrate appropriate depth of knowledge in subject matter.
- Model the behavior and expectations of our school community.

Job Requirements:
- Bachelors degree or higher from an accredited college or university required
- Valid Rhode Island Department of Education Certification required
- All Grades English to Speakers of Other Languages Teacher PK12OR
- ESL Specialist/Consultant PK12
- National background check (after offer)
- Citizenship residency or work visa required
