Network Architect Engineer

The opportunity

As a Network Architect Engineer (Senior) in the Office Connect team you will be responsible for the validating lab testing certifying & work with Network Infosec Legal and vendors group to provide Wi Fi technology solutions and improvements to guarantee on Office Connect Network portfolio that will fulfill business strategy and needs. Keep in mind these solutions will be supported by various WAN LAN WLAN DC or overall NW infrastructure.
Additionally you will provide consulting services to other teams and act as a L4 escalation point for operational issues without a resolution or unknown issue; here your leadership partnership with support groups like Netops Infosec or vendor of choice will be critical.

Position Overview:

As a Senior Network Architect and Engineer specializing in LAN and WiFi within the Office Connect team you will be pivotal in shaping our enterprise network strategy. Your role involves:

• Design and Validation: Leading the validation lab testing and certification of WiFi technology solutions to ensure they meet the strategic business needs of Office Connect. Your work will integrate with various network infrastructures including WAN LAN WLAN Office solutions and Data Center environments.
• Collaboration: Working closely with crossfunctional teams such as Network Operations Information Security Legal Procurement and external vendors to develop and refine network solutions. This collaboration ensures that all network enhancements align with security protocols legal standards and vendor capabilities.
• Solution Implementation: Overseeing the deployment of network technologies that enhance the performance reliability and security of the Office Connect network portfolio. You will be key in translating business requirements into technical solutions that support organizational objectives. Including creating and reviewing deployment guides maintaining software versioning and overseeing new service implementation.
• Consultancy and Escalation: Providing expert consultancy to internal teams on networkrelated matters. Acting as the Level 4 escalation point for complex or unresolved operational issues where your expertise in network architecture leadership and partnership with support teams like NetOps and InfoSec will be crucial.

Your key responsibilities

This position must enable and provide reliable network solutions that will allow a flawless connectivity for our people and our clients. Keep in mind you will be the trusted advisor/key player across network teams and an effective communicator especially when it comes to managing complex challenges or solutions. Major responsibilities and duties are:
Technical Competence:

• Be the office connect POC and trusted advisor for our support vendors infosec legal security teams
• Technology Leadership: Drive the architectural design for LAN and WiFi technologies ensuring scalability performance and security.
• L4 escalation support for data network services across the global Ernst & Young environment. These services are standards based inherently secure innovative and aligned to business requirements.
• Problem Solving: Diagnose troubleshoot and resolve complex network issues often serving as the final escalation point for networkrelated problems.
• Validate OC solutions are based on industry best practices sound solid engineering principles while incorporating both local and global requirements
• Develop or validate solutions design and configuration documentation to be used by the Regional Data Network and Operations teams for implementation and support.
• Documentation and Standards: Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation and standards for network configurations and practices.
• Provide technology expertise for all facets of data networking to enhance quality and facilitate superior solutions which meet business requirements.
• Collaborate with appropriate teams to create and gain approval on global technology standards and reference architectures on an ongoing basis
• Develop and maintain documentation for configuration guidelines and templates
• Research and keep abreast of industry trends and new technology offerings by maintaining engineering relationships with strategic vendors to ensure our technology landscape reference architectures designs and configuration standards stays current
• Innovation: Stay ahead of technological advancements in networking to recommend and integrate cuttingedge solutions.
• Act as a consultant to the other teams for network portfolio
• Drive and complete technical network deliverables on assigned projects
• Project Management: Manage BAU projects from conception through to implementation ensuring timely delivery and adherence to budget constraints.
• Software Bug Scrubs: Regularly perform bug scrubs on software for all LAN/WLAN devices documenting and managing both current and legacy versions to guarantee stability and performance. Special attention is given to ensuring compatibility with various Office versions.

Analytical Responsibilities:

• Review and recommend network related hardware and software technologies designs and services that will assist in the support of the firms global IT infrastructure
• Work with Office Connect the rest of the Network and Platform Infrastructure teams to help provide new engineering standards for the organization and help to identify opportunities to enhance existing services
• Ensure compliance with infrastructure design methodologies during project work with both the Service Delivery and Regional Network teams
• Evaluate and recommend different types of network related hardware and software to be supported as standard components that will be utilized in support of infrastructure builds
• Achieve firstpass check of quality in product and solutions development as it relates to infrastructure
• Gain adherence to architecture standards and principles global productspecific guidelines and local regulatory requirements
• Provide infrastructure maintenance support for problem management and incident escalation
• Network Performance Analysis: Utilize EYs advanced analytics to monitor and assess network health performance metrics and usage patterns to identify trends bottlenecks and areas for improvement.
• DataDriven Decision Making: Leverage data from network monitoring tools to make informed decisions on network upgrades capacity planning and optimization strategies.
• Predictive Maintenance: Employ predictive analytics to anticipate network failures or degradation thereby reducing downtime and enhancing service continuity.

Skills and attributes for success

• Handle ambiguity and able to move forward with imperfect information and get things done in a rapidly changing environment
• Must be comfortable working in an environment where ideas are challenged

To qualify for the role you must have

• 12 years of experience in Network Design or Architect teams with a high focus on customer experience
• A bachelors degree in computer science/Engineering or a related discipline plus industry accreditation or equivalent work experience
• Advanced skills in planning designing and troubleshooting complex network environments
• Track record of customer focus based on openness trust and delivering on promises
• Time management skills to manage one or more large complex projects simultaneously
• Strong interpersonal and team working skills across matrixed client supplier and geographically dispersed virtual teams
• Dataguided analytical approach with the ability to formulate and translate insights into action with measurable results.
• Excellent understanding of Office Connect product portfolio and ability to bring knowledge of this to help facilitate the growth and adoption across the regions.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate complex technical information to a diverse business audience.
• Experience developing managing and presenting business cases and strategic plans.

Ideally youll also have

• Industry accreditation like CCNA R&S CCNP R&S CCNA Wireless CCNP Meraki Wireless certifications or equivalent knowledge.
• Flexibility to adjust to multiple demands shifting priorities and rapid change
• Ability to work and team with a multitude of different people within and outside of IT to balance demands
• Ability to deal efficiently with escalations and difficult situations/people under pressure
• Ability to understand and integrate cultural as well as individual differences and motives and to work in virtual crosscultural crossborder global teams
• English language skills excellent written and verbal communication.
