COMPENSATION: $38.33 $42.48 (Effective April 1 2025 $39.10 $43.33 per hour)

INTRODUCTION:
New Path Youth and Family Services is an accredited childrens mental health agency providing a range of compassionate innovative and accessible services for children youth and their families throughout Simcoe County. New Path respectfully acknowledges we are situated on the traditional land of the Anishnaabeg people which include the Odawa Ojibwe and Pottawatomi Nations collectively known as the Three Fires Confederacy.


PURPOSE OF POSITION:
The Youth and Family Therapist provides intensive longer term individual family and group therapy to children youth and families with complex needs.


JOB DUTIES & RESPONSBILITIES:

  1. Provide comprehensive assessment utilizing appropriate tools as per the presenting issues that involve all significant stakeholders in the child/youths lives.
  2. Provide specialized assessments where appropriate for specific issues such as sexual abuse harmful sexual behavior/sexual offending eating disorders and other complex diagnoses. This may involve administering specific psychometric tools that are appropriate with scope of practice.
  3. Interpret many different factors and formulate treatment plans including goals and clinical strategies upon completion of all assessments and ensure all involved partners have a clear understanding of the treatment recommendations and plan.
  4. Actively participate in the treatment planning process for clients including monitoring of each individuals progress toward the attainment of their goals.
  5. Provide individual family and/or group therapy using evidence based/informed modalities/programs that will have a direct and positive impact on the safety and wellbeing of clients.
  6. Initiate and attend case review multidisciplinary and other planning meetings with key stakeholders.
  7. Act as a case manager for assigned clients.
  8. Provide followup service to discharge clients as needed.
  9. Assist clients in making referrals to community resources and/or internal resources as needed to support the family and enhance the treatment work.
  10. Provide consultation to New Path staff or other agency staff regarding child and family functioning and related clinical interventions.
  11. Actively participate as a supportive member of the program at Community of Practices (CoP)

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Masters degree in Social Work or a masters level program central to the practice of psychotherapy.
  2. Authorized to provide the controlled act of psychotherapy in compliance with the regulations and the bylaws established by a regulatory college in Ontario (CRPO CNO COTO CPO CPSO or OCSWSSW).
  3. A minimum of 3 years professional experience and familiarity with various psychotherapy evidence based/informed individual group and family intervention programs (CBT Narrative TFCBT Brief solution focused DBT).
  4. Demonstrated experience with complex clinical treatment for sexual abuse sexual offending eating disorders and high conflict divorce.
  5. Knowledge of and experience in completing clinical interviews assessments and formulations that are broad informed and inclusive.

  7. Demonstrates awareness for the backgrounds values beliefs and traditions of staff clients families and communities we serve.
  8. Continuously assesses and challenges assumptions personal unconscious bias and commits to understanding diverse perspectives experiences and their intersectionality.
  9. Commits to ongoing training to build the knowledge awareness and skills that contribute to creating a culturally safe environment for staff clients and families.
  10. Competency and effective use of database and Microsoft Office systems.
  11. Confident articulate and professional when communicating verbally and in writing.
  12. French language is an asset

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Must be available to provide 4 hours per week of direct service to clients after 5 p.m. (evening appointments) to accommodate client and family schedules.
  2. Willingness to travel to other agency offices and the community using personal vehicle. Must have valid drivers license with minimum G2.
  3. Prolonged periods of sitting and working on a computer.
