Job Description:
We are seeking a Welder Journeyman for our Canoga Park CA location. Union position. 2nd shift.

At this facility we design & manufacture rocket engines and unique power systems that support space exploration & the defense of our nation such as NASAs SLS Lockheed Martins THAAD Sierra Nevadas Dream Chaser and the Mars Perseverance Rover.
Responsible for welding various metals of Company products fixtures test stands industrial structures tooling and related equipment components and product parts by using available welding processes including manual fusion welding and by mechanized or automated processes including laser inplacetube robotic welding plastic welding and torch brazing to do longitudinal and circumferential welding of assemblies. Cutting various metals by oxyacetylene and plasma arc plasma spray welding and plasma welding. Welder is responsible for setup and that the weldments meets the external and internal requirements of the applicable weld specification.
Essential Functions:
- Set up and operate automatic inert gas arc welding machines to do such welding as longitudinal and circumferential welding of assemblies.
- Layout locations and make own setups as required.
- Weld Company products by certified processes maintaining critical alignment tolerances and improvising tooling and holding fixtures as required.
- Manually fusion weld various metals for fabrication of tooling and maintenance repair and assembly of plant machinery equipment and buildings.
- Must pass and maintain all required certifications including civil code ASME and customer requirements to perform assigned work utilizing the following welding processes: shielded metal arc gas tungsten inert gas (TIG) metal inert gas (MIG) and plasma.
- Must be capable of passing Journeyman Certification as well as other certifications as required.
- Must be capable of passing an appearance test (root pass and two fill passes on stainless duct weld sample in 6G) .
- Must have a proven safety record and experience with PPE.
Qualifications:
- High School graduate or equivalent required. Minimum 5 years of experience in related field.
- Fabrication/ Welding schooling or equivalent can be substituted for years of experience on a 2 to 1 basis. 1.5 years of school 3 years experience.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Three years G.T.A.W. experience welding hard alloys (stainless steel titanium Inconel and / or steel).
- Experience welding duct assemblies (or similar) and controlling weld distortion and shrinkage.
- Experience reading comprehending and using planning and drawings to meet required specification requirements.
- Prior experience welding Rocket engines and or propulsion systems.
- Prior experience using mixed torch gases 95Ar / 5H2 Argon Helium mixes).
- Prior certification in InPlaceTube Automatic or Orbital Welding.
- Prior certification to D17.1 or Journeyman certification.
In compliance with pay transparency requirements the salary range for this role is $34.27/hr $57.59/hr. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
