Position Summary:
Florida Atlantic University is seeking a Dean of Students. Boca Raton FL.
Responsible to the Vice President for Student Affairs or appropriate administrator the Dean of Students serves on the Student Affairs Leadership Team and coordinates the administration of the Dean of Students Office serves as an advocate for students and shares information with students families colleagues and other interested parties with other members of the Student Affairs Leadership Team the Dean of Students creates a culture of learning safety wellbeing and engagement by applying theories and learning outcomes that promote students academic and personal success thereby increasing student progression retention and timely graduation.
Summary of responsibilities:
Provide leadership and guidance in analysis review creation and interpretation of student policies and procedures.
Establish community standards advocating for student wellbeing and overseeing all behavior standards for student life.
Work closely with the campus community to help ensure the safety and security of all students.
Serve as a primary point of contact for all students and families regarding nonacademic matters.
Provides direct support and guidance of students facing academic personal or other related situations that could impact their student success.
The office serves as a referral source for other university and community resources to ensure students are successful.
Respond to emergencies crisis situations and other sensitive matters that require direct support.
Serve as the primary resource to coordinate relevant departments to support impacted individuals.
Maintain open communication with students parents faculty and staff and collaborate with other departments to address student needs.
Provide direction and supervision of the units and directors within the Dean of Students Office.
Develop key collaborative relationships with campus administrative areas faculty and campus and community leaders to enhance planning and implementing strategic initiatives resolving issues and responding to crisis incidents.
Coordinate Student Affairs response to major crisis and other unusual events impacting students within the University Community.
Provide direction and intervention for students in crisis and noncrisis including intervening with appropriate offices at the institution. May directly supervise processes within the division.
Responsible for the related administrative functions and processes including Student Conduct & Conflict Resolution the Admissions Review Board Student Case Management/Care Services Victim Services Respondent Services and crisis intervention/ response. Cosupervises (along with FAU PD) Victim Services.
Serves as the Deputy Title IX Coordinator for students.
Oversees the development of assessment and strategic planning/initiatives for the Office of the Dean of Students.
Serves as the Universitys Judicial/Conduct Officer for all nonacademic student misconduct cases on and off campus (university wide).
Interprets and administers the student code of conduct.
Facilitates and coordinates any updates and oversight of maintenance changes to the Student Code of Conduct.
Responsible for the oversight of maintenance and updates the student conduct database and gathering of statistical information. Serves as liaison with FAU Police Department for Clery statistics.
Facilitates and leads continuous training presentations and seminars for the University community.
Leads the Behavioral Intervention Team for the University.
Serve as a resource to University faculty and staff in dealing with students disruptive behavior within and outside the classroom.
Oversees the appeals process for Student Eligibility relative to Regulation 4.006 and Student Government and Student Organization Travel Procedures.
Serves in a primary oncall capacity for incidents on or off campus.
Serves on the Universitys Emergency Operations Team.
Represent the University and/or the Division of Student Affairs through university engagement interaction with the media and consultation with parents of FAU students and other members of the community.
Routinely interact with Vice Presidents Vice Provosts Deans and Directors regarding issues relating to the health and safety of students student conduct accessibility issues and other related topics.
Perform other jobrelated duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
A masters degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization and six years of appropriate experience; or a bachelors degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization and eight years of appropriate experience required.Salary:
