Job Description

Title: Head of Science

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Provide support and leadership in the area of science.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Arizona Teacher Certificate
  2. Arizona Supervisory Certificate
  3. Highly Qualified in Science
  4. Master Degree in Education
  5. Minimum three 3 years successful classroom teaching experience
  6. Knowledge of science curriculum and teaching strategies

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (Essential functions as defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act may include any of the following tasks knowledge skills and other characteristics. This list is ILLUSTRATIVE ONLY and is not a comprehensive listing of all duties and responsibilities performed by the incumbents of this class.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide support and leadership in the areas of science/health.
  • Coordinate human growth and development program.
  • Prepare reports for the district and state.
  • Develop curriculum for science health and human growth and development.
  • Coordinate textbook adoptions for science and health.
  • Assist principals in providing inservice to teachers in science/health.
  • Provide staff development in the areas of science/health.
  • Collaborate with other departments to provide staff development.
  • Facilitate monthly district science/health meetings.
  • Participate in articulation with the high school district regarding science.
  • Assist in the analysis of science assessments.
  • Recommend appropriate science and health materials and resources.
  • Model instructional strategies in classrooms.
  • Coach teachers in the area of science/health.
  • Develop and maintain records and reports as necessary.
  • Coordinate and monitor appropriate budgets.
  • Participate in meetings pertaining to primary function.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

SALARY:

The actual salary for the successful candidate will be determined during contract negotiations and will be based on experience and professional preparation.

Superintendent or superintendentsdesignee
