Senior Actuarial Analyst Lexington Casualty

Our Actuaries are on the front lines quantifying risk pricing insurance and reserving losses for AIGs major insurance operating companies globally. We collaborate with Finance Claims Operations Marketing and Risk Management among other functions. As an AIG actuary you will be challenged and encouraged to reach your greatest potential to help improve how we predict manage and mitigate risk.

How you will create an impact

We are seeking an actuarial professional with industry expertise to assist with pricing reserving the Lexington Casualty and Professional Lines business. The Senior Actuarial Analyst will be responsible for reviewing current AY loss ratios booking the quarter close preparing reinsurance submissions annual deep dive reserve reviews quarterly reserve monitoring and actual to expected loss monitoring. They will partner with other pricing actuaries in implementing best practices analytical techniques partner with pricing actuaries in assessing the impact of loss trends and claims emergence and partner with underwriters in assessing the impact of changes in appetite and portfolio mix.

  • Analyze the projected future liability of E&S casualty and professional line industries including Energy Products Liability Construction Architects & Engineers General Casualty Public Entities Healthcare and Transportation for GL and AL.
  • Work closely with underwriting to understand the changing portfolio mix and implications for current accident year and prior accident year loss and recommend underwritings strategy to move toward more profitable growth opportunities.
  • Monitor rate exposure retention new lost business changes. Monitor loss trends and relevant industry/regulatory changes and effectively communicate to the management.
  • Provide business solutions to maximize risk adjusted profit. Develop analytical tools to help business effectively manage existing portfolios.
  • Work closely with pricing actuaries to inform them of reserve development understand pricing and underwriting actions that will impact reserve estimates.
  • Monitor and examine profitability of the casualty and professional lines by industry segment and geography.
  • Research and develop best practices reserving techniques including GLMs to be implemented across the business.

What youll need to succeed

  • BS in Actuarial Science Mathematics Statistics or related area
  • 4 or more actuarial exams
  • 3 years experience in commercial casualty lines or professional lines (e.g. GL Excess Auto Med Mal or E&O) reserving preferred
  • Proficiency in Excel SQL SAS Python R or other programming languages preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problemsolving skills
  • Work well both independently and as part of a team
  • Strong business and collaboration skills and responsive to service needs and operational demands
  • Effective time management skill
  • Excellent communication presentation and interpersonal skills
  • Customer focus
