About the organizations
Stripes Payments and Risk organizations are at the heart of Stripes business. They are responsible for enabling our users to accept payments worldwide in a secure and reliable fashion.
You may work on a wide variety of critical business areas including:
- Optimized Checkout & Link: The Optimized Checkout and Link teams focus on building bestinclass checkout experiences that provide delightful checkout experiences for customers while driving higher purchase conversion for merchants. As an organization we work on Checkout Payment Links Elements Payment Methods and Link each playing a crucial part in augmenting the economic landscape of the internet.
- Risk: Risk Engineering develops products that reduce Stripes financial and regulatory risk at scale while maintaining an excellent user experience. We ensure user compliance with regulatory and partner requirements protecting both Stripes brand and financial stability by building both userfacing products and backend systems.
- Identity: The Identity team is responsible for ensuring that businesses can digitally verify their users for fraud regulatory and trust & safety purposes. We provide the Stripe Identity product which automates KYC verification for merchants and platforms.
- As a fullstack engineer on the team youll be responsible for shaping and building a suite of products that let our users model and operate their business more efficiently. Were looking for engineers who are excited to build the future of hosted UIs highpolish user experiences and APIs.
Connect enables the worlds leading platforms and marketplaces like Shopify DoorDash and Instacart to incorporate payments into their products. Connect has been at the forefront of Stripes growth due to the power of its offering which enables our users to distribute Stripes payment processing directly to their sellers and merchants. As Stripe grows its suite of product offerings beyond payments Connect will unlock a new phase of growth for Stripe by enabling our platforms to distribute all of Stripes products to their end users. Multiple teams within Connect are hiring full stack engineers.
Fullstack engineers at Stripe bridge the gap between backend and frontend systems to solve technical challenges quickly and effectively. You will work on projects that span technologies systems and processes where you will design build test and ship great code every day. In this cross functional role you will collaborate with experts in infrastructure security design and operations to build mission critical internal and external features that power Stripe users around the world.
Responsibilities
Payments & Risk
- Work with a wide range of systems processes and technologies to own and solve problems from endtoend.
- Work closely with engineers designers and product managers to build new features and products.
- Uphold our high engineering standards and bring consistency to the many codebases and processes you will encounter.
- Build elegant APIs and user experiences that enable merchants to run and scale their businesses on top of Stripe.
- Contribute to the design and architecture of the next generation of Stripes infrastructure to meet the high growth needs of our company and customers for years to come.
Connect
- Build endtoend experiences for Connect that make it as easy as possible to participate in the Internet economy and receive money online. Some of Stripes largest users are platforms that connect senders of payments with receivers of payments. Lyft connects riders to drivers Kickstarter connects backers to projects and Squarespace connects shoppers to online stores. All of them participate in doing business online and all of them use Connect.
- Make it easy for Connect platforms to scale their business through leveraging the full power of Stripes products via the dashboard adding to their business models and product functionality while reducing integration lift and complexity.
- Build great product experiences (integrate with Instant Payouts Issuing Capital Terminal etc) into all of Connects dashboard surfaces.
Who you are
Were looking for someone who meets the minimum requirements to be considered for the role. If you meet these requirements you are encouraged to apply. The preferred qualifications are a bonus not a requirement.
Minimum requirements
- 2 years of professional experience in a software development role.
- You can work effectively across the stack from top to bottom comfortably navigating codebases with different languages and tools.
- Youre equally as comfortable shipping userfacing experiences as you are writing custom queries to analyze experiment results.
- Youre selfdirected and can operate autonomously to deliver scaled impact.
- Have experience acting as domain expert/technical steward within a team as well as setting technical direction/roadmap for core areas of a teams scope.
- Thrive in a collaborative environment involving different stakeholders and subject matter experts
- Take pride in working on projects to successful completion involving a wide variety of technologies and systems
- Can stitch together many different services and processes together even if you have not worked with them before
- Can put yourself in the shoes of your users and be a steward of crafting great experiences
- Enjoy working with a diverse group of people with different expertise
- Uphold best practices in engineering security and design
Preferred qualifications
- Experience working in highgrowth teams similar to Stripe.
- Experience building financial systems or tools for financial experts.
