Our Ontario Line Joint Corridor team within the Capital Project Group (RT) is seeking to hire a Manager to provide subject matter expertise and management oversight on the assigned projects that will provide critical rail and civil infrastructure necessary for the delivery of the GO Expansion and Ontario Line projects in their shared (Joint) corridor. The Manager will be responsible to actively lead all activities to ensure achievement of objectives according to defined timelines budget and approved project deliverables.
What will I be doing
- Leads and manages the planning delivery and implementation of large and complex rail and civil infrastructure capital projects; project progress analyze current and future work activities to identify deficiencies and opportunities for efficiencies; recommend and implement solutions.
- Works collaboratively with other business units and interfacing projects to ensure successful crosspackage coordination and integration.
- Develops monitors and manages project schedules budgets and risk registers drawing on demonstratable project experience involving complex construction phasing in an operating railway corridor.
- Consult and collaborate with the applicable internal and external stakeholders to determine and incorporate requirements and obtain signoff at agreedupon intervals to ensure projects across the system are developed implemented and integrated consistently efficiently safely and in a coordinated manner.
- Oversees consultant and contractor scope schedule and quality of work identifies existing and potential issues and initiates corrective action to avoid potential project delays or budget impacts; determines what requires escalation and initiates appropriate action.
- Oversees daytoday project progress develop status reports and provide regular feedback to the Senior Manager when necessary regarding projects performance on key elements such budget schedule risks etc.
- Manages relationships with key external stakeholders including but not limited to City of Toronto and TTC. Participates in meetings to provide status updates and discuss solutions to issues.
- Oversees project commissioning and closeout activities with contractors to verify alignment with contract terms and conditions as well as corporate quality requirements; prepares comprehensive closeout reports.
- Fosters and manages a safe and healthy work environment; ensures project teams contractors and trades comply with health safety and environmental standards that meet or exceed legislated requirements; monitors projects to ensure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety Act regulations and codes as well as Metrolinx policies and standards for all employers supervisors and workers on construction projects.

What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need
- Completion of a degree in applied science engineering or a related discipline or a combination of education training and experience deemed equivalent. Possession of a related designation such as P.Eng. and/or Project Management Professional (PMP) would be an asset.
- Denonstrated experience in progressively more responsible roles delivering rail and civil infrastructure projects in an operating railway environment Knowledge of railway corridor infrastructure (eg. tracks signals railway bridges structures infrastructure) and have experience working in heavy civil projects in a railway environment in both design and construction stages.
- Project and budget management methodologies to manage construction projects from start to completion; knowledgeable of procurement processes to identify opportunities for improvements and cost savings; plan and monitor departmental budgets against limitations.
- Knowledge of Canadian Rail Operating Rules (CROR) Ontarios Contract Laws Construction Liens Act Occupational Health and Safety Act Environmental Assessment Act and Professional Engineers Act.
- Experience in managing different procurement and delivery models (DesignBidBuild) would be beneficial.
- Collaboration skills to build constructive work relationships (e.g. clients departments team members) to meet mutual goals and objectives set across projects. Acts in a professional and supportive manner to the crossfunctional team and to external stakeholders
- Leadership ability and interpersonal skills to coach mentor and manage a team of technical project professionals; oral/written/presentation skills to liaise with all levels within the organization and on construction sites; to work effectively with specialists across multiple sectors
- Problem solving and analytical skills to evaluate and address contractor/consultant performance issues and recommend plans for improvement; to evaluate and address program impediments with the potential to disrupt or jeopardize the project and/or corporate objectives
- Communication skills and relationship management to clearly and professionally convey and receive information across the crossfunctional team in a way that reaches and informs all relevant team members; to understand the nature of stakeholders business (e.g. Operations Utilities Municipalities Contractors) and objectives to effectively communicate/ negotiate/ influence and identify points of collaboration.
- A valid Ontario Class G drivers license is required to travel to various site locations meetings operational facilities etc. (approximately 5. Must meet and maintain the corporate standard for a good driving record
