Job Description
WellStone is North Alabamas most comprehensive behavioral healthcare provider serving over 13000 persons annually throughout Northern Alabama with offices in Huntsville and Cullman. We are a nonprofit community organization that offers a wide range of services for every phase of life from children to older adults.
At the WellStone Emergency Services (WES) facility we care for adults in mental health or substance use disorder (SUD) crisis. The Licensed Practical Nurse will evaluate our patients for emergent care needs and support our therapeutic team with inpatient treatment plans. You will be documenting the medical progress and notes while keeping up with all state and federal regulations. This position is PartTime Weekends 1st 2nd and 3rd Shifts. SignOn Bonus available for qualified new hires.We have 8 and 12 hour shifts.
What were looking for:
- Valid Alabama State Nursing LicenseCurrent
- Prefer Two Years Nursing Experience
- Excellent Oral/Written Communication
- Computer Knowledge
What youll be doing:
- Conduct vital signs i.e. orthostatic blood pressure weight height pulse rate information on involuntarily committed patients of our 16bed locked down facility
- Prepare discharge planning
- Provide oversight to the Behavioral Aide working with the clients providing Basic Living Skills
- Obtain information from client regarding his/her physical status
- Make inquiries of client to include any changes with him/her symptoms etc.
- Assess medication side effects and/or adverse reactions
- Perform medication monitoring
- Perform crisis intervention techniques as needed
- Administer injections document in clients electronic medical record on a regular basis
- Comply with OSHA regulations when administering I.M. medications
- Interface with local laboratories to obtain test results
- Answer telephones
- Ensure required training is up to date
- May be asked to work at our Crisis Respite Center for our 10patient facility
- Maintain licensure in the State of Alabama
- Complete and maintain documentation in a timely manner
- Attend staff meetings
- Ability to multitask prioritize and use effective listening and communication skills both oral and written
- Ability to walk throughout the facility
- Ability to remain calm and effective in emergency situations
- Ability to provide a safe environment and promote quality care through adherence to established standards of care and facility policies procedures and protocols.
- Complete tasks as assigned by program manager or his/her designee.
