Duties and Responsibilities * denotes essential functions):
INTERNSHIP SUPERVISION 70
1. *Oversee the counseling internship program including recruitment selection and supervision of interns.
2. Provide training and professional development opportunities for interns ensuring they receive a comprehensive learning experience.
3. Responsible for conducting individual and/or group supervision to assigned interns in alignment with the requirements of the training program.
4. Conduct regular checkins offer guidance on professional development and address any challenges or concerns.
5. Evaluate intern performance and provide constructive feedback to help them achieve their professional goals.
6. Collaborate with training program faculty and/or staff to identify program goals learning objectives and evaluation criteria.
7. Coordinate the recruitment process for interns by liaising with training program faculty and/or staff advertising internship opportunities and conducting interviews.
8. Create and implement the Counseling Centers intern training handbook.
9. Develop and deliver training sessions or workshops for interns to enhance their clinical skills cultural competence ethical awareness and professional conduct.
10. Collaborate with faculty and professionals to incorporate evidencebased practices into internship training.
11. Assess interns performance and progress using established evaluation tools and methodologies.
12. Ensure that interns adhere to relevant state and federal laws regulations and ethical guidelines governing the practice of mental health counseling.
13. Maintain accurate records of internship placements evaluations and other relevant documentation.
COUNSELING SERVICES 25
1. *Provide direct mental health counseling services to individual students couples and groups regarding a wide range of personal academic and relationship concerns including but not limited to anxiety depression and trauma.
2. Provide services that include intake interview assessment treatment plans case management intervention and crisis management and may require after hours consultation as needed.
3. Maintain accurate and confidential records of counseling sessions in accordance with legal obligations and ethical standards.
4. Provide consultation and professional development for faculty administration and staff that addresses the psychological and developmental needs of the students.
5. Provide services in an ethically responsible way consistent with professional guidelines and university policies and procedures.
6. Collaborate with other campus and community resources and make referrals to external mental health providers when necessary.
OTHER 5
1. *Prepare reports and data summaries as needed for program assessment and data collection.
2. Participate in relevant conferences workshops and networking events.
3. Seek extramural training and/or services grants
4. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
1. Possession of a Masters degree in Counseling Psychology or related field and 3 year(s) of progressively responsible professional experience with responsibilities for providing mental health counseling and at least 1 year of experience supervising interns or trainees in a clinical setting; or any equivalent combination of education and/or professional work experience which provides the required education knowledge skills and abilities as indicated.
2. Considerable working knowledge of principles practices and techniques in the area of mental health counseling as demonstrated by the broad knowledge of the full range of pertinent standard and evolving concepts principles and methodologies.
3. Considerable working knowledge and understanding of applicable federal and state laws rules regulations and theories and systems associated with mental health counseling.
4. Demonstrated ability to resolve wide ranging complex problems through the use of creative reasoning and logic to accurately determine the cause of the problems and the resolution of the problems in an effective innovative and timely manner.
5. Demonstrated ability to interpret and present information and ideas clearly and accurately in writing verbally and by preparation of reports and other materials.
6. Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external organizations groups team leaders and members and individuals.
7. Demonstrated ability to operate a personal computer apply word processing software.
8. Demonstrated ability to lead subordinates manage work priorities and projects and manage employee relations.
9. Licensed or licenseeligible as a Mental Health Counselor Psychologist Clinical Social Worker or Marriage and Family Therapist in the state of Hawaii within two years of appointment.
Desirable Qualifications
1. Doctoral degree from an accredited university in counseling psychology clinical psychology or a related field with an emphasis in mental health counseling.
2. Four 4 years or more of mental health counseling experience.
3. Two 2 years or more of experience supervising interns or trainees in a clinical setting.
4. Experience delivering mental health counseling in a higher education setting (e.g. university counseling center).
5. Experience developing and implementing training programs for graduate student interns or early career mental health professionals.
6. Knowledge of evidencebased therapeutic interventions and crisis management.
7. Experience working in multicultural settings and with Native Hawaiian and/or other Indigenous populations.
8. Grant writing experience.
