Overview:

Job Description Summary:


Ensures registration is occurring accurately and in a timely manner. Coordinates activities and communicates with various departments who are affected by registration information. Initiates appropriate steps to resolve departmental interdepartmental and payer issues that affect registration processes.


Job Description:


Essential Functions:

  • Supervises staff assigned to the work unit. Works with the manager in the hiring terminating and counseling of staff.
  • Evaluates the performance of assigned staff and completes the Performance Appraisal form. Documents and provides timely feedback regarding concerns received about staffs behavior or job performance.
  • Implements and enforces the departments policies and procedures. Guides the department to meet the set goals and standards. Schedules and conducts monthly team meetings.
  • Ensures time and attendance is completed for department each pay period. Ensures appropriate staffing needs are maintained in all areas of the department.
  • Deals directly with patients parents third parties vendors management and all levels of hospital staff. Acts as a liaison between department and other hospital departments in billing needs and requirements.
  • Stays abreast of and educates staff on governmental regulations contract requirements and anticipated future needs. Ensures that all unit staff remains compliant with government regulations.
  • Strives to find solutions to hospital and departmentwide operational issues affecting accounts receivable or customer service.


Education Requirement:

Bachelors Degree in business administration or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience required.


Licensure Requirement:

Valid Ohio drivers license and proof of auto insurance as required by hospital policy and positionspecific requirements. Must pass motor vehicle background inspection insurance eligibility driving qualifications and training set forth by Nationwide Childrens Hospital and maintain qualification of insurance guidelines.


Skills:

  • Ability to effectively initiate and manage multidisciplined projects.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology various claim forms third party contracts and payment patterns and reimbursement regulations and policies of thirdparty payers.
  • Detailed understanding of a managed care environment and its impact on the hospitals bottom line.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multidisciplined projects and multiple people.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Working knowledge of mainframe admitting and billing computer systems (EPIC preferred) and experience using Outlook Word and Excel.
  • Demonstrated traits of teamwork cooperation and positive and enthusiastic role model.


Experience:

  • Three years of experience in a leadership or management position required.
  • Experience in a healthcare environment preferred.
