The District is a government agency whose mission is to protect water resources minimize flood risks and ensure the publics water needs are met. We serve a population of nearly 6million people in westcentral Florida as directed by state law.

Support the Districts Water Supply Section using your water supply/water resources knowledge and leadership expertise. The Water Supply Manager will lead and manage the Districts Water Supply Section and associated programs. This includes alternative water supply aquifer recharge reclaimed water septic to sewer and water conservation programs; planning efforts including the Districts Regional Water Supply Plan and the Central Florida Water Initiative (CFWI); coordination with utilities and regional water supply entities throughout the District; and other related water supply projects through our Cooperative Funding Initiative (CFI) and District Initiative program. The leadership role is responsible for a staff of 16 including the Water Supply Projects Supervisor.

The Water Supply Section Manager reports to the Water Resources Bureau Chief and works closely with the other section manager in the bureau who supports the FARMS Program. Frequent coordination is necessary with other sections throughout the District most notably with Project Management Procurement and Community Affairs. On priority the Water Supply Section Manager may work directly with Executive staff including the Resource Management Division Director or the Executive Director on highprofile projects.Youll have the chance to work with a wide range of teams in this promising position each of which plays a vital role in our efforts to preserve our most valuable natural resources.

Starting Compensation:
Scientific Manager 1 $75000 $87500.00
Scientific Manager 2 $85000 $105000.00
Scientific Manager 3 $90000 $112500.00

Thestartingsalary range is included for the Scientific Managerprofile which reflects theminimum to approximately 50 of the respective pay grade. The starting salary will be based on the education and experience of the successful candidate. The District conducts annual performance evaluations that may award applicable pay increases based on positive employee performance.

Essential Functions

  • Reviews and approves work products for the section including water supply planning and related reporting documents agreements task work assignments payment requests letters reports and requests prepared by assigned staff.
  • Responds to questions from senior District staff stakeholders and the public regarding water supply issues.
  • Serves as a primary District representative to regional water supply entities CFWI teams public utilities and other water providers by developing and maintaining close working relationships with representatives of those entities and serving on assigned teams.
  • Prepares and gives presentations to the District Governing Board other governmental bodies citizen groups and District staff.
  • Coordinates with the Water Resource Bureau Chief and keeps the Bureau Chief informed of important issues; requests guidance and direction for difficult or outofpolicy issues.
  • Provides leadership to assigned staff and supervises their daily work in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Plans and develops workload and schedule for the section assigns specific duties provides guidance and direction to staff and assists staff with resolution of complex problems.
  • Makes decisions regarding staffing requirements work procedures and process improvements.
  • Promotes a positive work environment by recognizing good and poor staff performance and acceptable and unacceptable staff behavior encouraging and rewarding or correcting staff as appropriate and resolving staff issues.
  • Conducts section meetings.
  • Hires trains develops coaches and evaluates staff.
  • Leads the interview and employee selection process for hiring within the section.
  • Ensures compliance with personnel and other guidelines setting goals and performance standards for the section and staff.
  • Actively supports succession planning training and professional development of staff.
  • Prepares justifies and manages the sections budget and financial activities.
  • Participates in District emergency management activities and performs other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions

Employee works in a standard office environment. Some work may be performed in the field. During outdoor field work may be exposed to extremes in elements temperature and humidity and to a variety of pests including mosquitoes and ticks.Must be able to able to bend lift carry and reach above shoulder level. Frequent travel several times per week to any of the numerous public or private utilities regional water supply entities and planning agencies throughout the Districts 16county coverage area is required. May be required to travel outside of the Districts coverage area. Required to drive automotive vehicle for 2 hours or more at a time. Performs continuous repetitive tasks (to include keyboarding) with one or both hands. Occasionally lifts and carries objects up to 10 to 30 pounds. Occasionally requires bending and reaching above shoulder level.Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Additional Details
