JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
The Penn State University Libraries Library Learning Services department seeks Undergraduate Students as Peer Research Consultants (PRCs) in the Search Bar.The Search Bar is a consultation center where students can receive peertopeerassistancewith library resources and writing. PRCs meet with their peers and help develop research skills by guiding them to the library resources they require.
Qualifications
We are seeking undergraduate students who have curious minds enjoy working with their peers have an interest in teaching and or research and desire to learn more about the Penn State Libraries role in students research. Specifically we are searching for students with:
Strong communication and customer service skills in person in writing on the phone and online;
The capability to thinkcritically and on your feetwhile solving problems;
The ability to work independently;
The ability to collaborate and relate with your peers during a research conversation; and
The ability to collaborate with other employees providing services in the Search Bar and throughout the library.
A resume and cover letter are required in order to be considered for this position. Additionally please include your typical weekly availability (including weekends and evenings) class schedule and other potential time commitments in your cover letter document. This position operates during the Fall and Spring semesters. Training and regularly scheduled shifts will be assigned starting in the Fall 2024 semester.
Peer Research Consultants begin at an hourly wage of $13.00

Pursuant to the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act and the Pennsylvania Act of 1988 Penn State publishes a combined Annual Security and Annual Fire Safety Report (ASR). The ASR includes crime statistics and institutional policies concerning campus security such as those concerning alcohol and drug use crime prevention the reporting of crimes sexual and other matters.
