The Maryland InsuranceAdministration (MIA) is an independent State agency that regulates Marylandsinsurance industry and protects consumers by monitoring and enforcing insurersand insurance professionals compliance with State law. Through thediligence of a highly professional staff of market analysts financialanalysts accountants lawyers law enforcement officers actuaries complaintinvestigators and others the MIA works to facilitate a strong and competitiveinsurance marketplace where consumers are well informed and treatedfairly. Staff members are subject matter experts who serve as a resourcefor lawmakers consumers and other public and private entities.
The MIA is charged with abroad range of responsibilities including the licensure of insurance carriersand insurance producers (brokers/agents) operating in Maryland the conduct offinancial examinations of companies to monitor financial solvency and thereview and approval of rates and contract forms. The MIA investigatesreports of consumer fraud and consumer complaints about life healthautomobile homeowners and/or property insurance. Insurance carriers aresubject to market conduct examinations and other actions to monitor compliancewith Maryland law. The MIA also has a unit dedicated to consumereducation and outreach which participates in hundreds of events and reachesthousands of individual consumers annually.
**Salary Guidelines Apply**
The Maryland InsuranceAdministrations Market Regulation and Professional Licensing Division isrecruiting for a Market Conduct Examiner I II Life and Health. The Life andHealth Market Conduct Unit investigates life and health companies forcompliance with Maryland and federal law. This position performsinvestigations desk audits and on site examinations of the business practicesof HMOs dental plans nonprofit health service plans as well as life andhealth insurers. Also any other personor entities engaged in the life and health insurance industry and regulated bythe Maryland Insurance Administration.
Market Conduct Examiner I
Bachelors degree from an accredited four year college or university.
OR
Four years of experience as an underwriter auditor claims adjuster insurance producer insurance regulator or other related experience.
Market Conduct Examiner II
Bachelors degree from anaccredited four year college or university andone year of experience as an underwriter claims adjuster insurance producer insurance regulator or related profession.
OR
Five years of experienceas an underwriter auditor claims adjuster insurance producer insuranceregulator or other relatedexperience.
