TheHonolulu Fire Department Administrative Services Bureau is looking for a SelfContained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) Technician to workat the Waipahu Maintenance Facility. This position works under the Supervising SelfContained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) Technician and participates in the inspection repair and maintenance of SCBA components including but not limited to inspection and filling of SCBA cylinders and conducting fit testing and flow testing. The position also assists in the recordkeeping functions of the SCBA and related programs including inventory control and exchange protocol of SCBA units and components.
Special Working Conditions: May be subject to work nights weekends holidays and during emergency situations.

At time of application you must be a citizen national or permanent resident alien of the United States or a noncitizen eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:
Equivalent to graduation from high school. Responsible work experience which demonstrated the ability to perform the essential functions of the job may be substituted for education.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:
Two years of experience that involved the following:
(a) maintenance testing and repair of valves regulators respiratory protection equipment or breathing air compressors; and/or
(b) warehousing and inventory control of respiratory protection equipment including breathing apparatus and oxygen cylinders which involved the inspection and proper handling and storage of such items.
Such experience must have demonstrated knowledge of the methods techniques tools and equipment used in the testing maintenance and repair of SCBA and related equipment; warehousing and inventory control practices; and handling and storage requirements of specialized supplies equipment and material.
LICENSE/CERTIFICATE REQUIREMENT:
1. Valid drivers license (Type 3/automobile) prior to appointment.
2. Possession of applicable manufacturers certification(s) related to the proper use maintenance repair and testing of SCBA and related equipment prior to completion of probation.
Any required licenses and certificates must be obtained by the time indicated above and maintained throughout the course of employment in the position.Examination Process
