Title: Science Teacher Grades 7 and 8 with
Middle School Football Coaching Responsibilities
Description: Teacher capable of teaching Science In Grades 7 and 8
Qualifications: Applicants must have a current Arkansas Teaching License.
Must hold proper Coaching certification through the Arkansas
Department of Education and Arkansas Activities Association/
NFHS Coaches Education Program. Previous teaching experience is preferred but not required.
REPORTS TO: Principal assistant principals Athletic Director and/or Head
Coaches
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 205 days with benefits provided according to Siloam Springs
School Board policies.
Essential Job Functions:
- Work collaboratively with the content team (PLC) and grade level interdisciplinary team.
- Teach the Arkansas Science standards associated with Grade 7 and/or Grade 8
- Implement a variety of effective research based instructional strategies consistently to engage learners with the essential learning standards.
- Monitor and assess student progress frequently using both formative and summative assessments and provide appropriate feedback.
- Effectively use and analyze data to adjust instruction and/or support student needs
- Adjust instruction within the classroom (Tier I) to meet the needs of all learners reteaching when needed and extending learning for others.
- Effectively implement district initiatives.
- Maintain consistent and timely parent communication using appropriate structures.
- Meet or exceed professional responsibilities and professional behavior expectations.
- Embrace middle school model and philosophy.
ESSENTIAL COACHING FUNCTIONS:
- Display loyalty to the head coach principal athletic director and the Athletic Department.
- Supervise athletes and team assigned to him/ her.
- Help plan and supervise any special needs/events (awards night parent meeting community service etc..
- Make suggestions and recommendations that will help the program.
- Teach and model good sportsmanship towards opponents officials and parents.
- Support and collaborate with staff in other athletic and academic programs to encourage students to participate in a variety of activities.
- Follow rules and regulations in the Siloam Springs Athletic Department Coaches and AAA Handbooks.
- Monitor the academic performance of team members.
- Help plan and conduct daily practices for the assigned team.
- Attend preseason organizational meetings as assigned by the Athletic Director.
- Assist in organizing and running of invitational or AAA tournaments and regular season meets.
Other Job Functions:
- Have or develop a working knowledge of Scientific Investigation methodologies.
- Abide by state statutes school board policies and regulations.
- Attend meetings and perform duties as assigned by administrators or supervisors.
- Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students equipment materials and facilities.
- Maintain accurate complete and correct records as required by law district policy and administrative regulation.
- Serve on committees as assigned.
- Remain current on instructional practices in education.
