- Teach a variety of undergraduate communication studies coursesincluding the basic speech communication course.The teaching assignment involves four classes each semester including multiple sections of the basic speech communication course depending on scheduling and staffing needs.
- Instruct courses in varied locations at varied times and via various media commensurate with department and university needs.
- Engage in scholarly research or creative achievement to enhance knowledge of field.
- Provide evidence of continuing preparation and study in the field to enhance teaching abilities.
- Contribute tostudent growth and development including student advising.
- Provide service to the university and community including the program the department the college the university and the greater community.
- Support Winona State Universitys mission to enhance the intellectual social cultural and economic vitality of the people and communities we serve.
Minimum Qualifications
- Ph.D. in Communication Studies by time of appointment.
- Recent evidence of quality undergraduate teaching.
- Demonstrated familiarity and preparation to teach two or more of the following courses:Rhetorical Criticism Civic Dialogue Persuasion Argumentation Gender and Communication.
- Commitment to teaching excellence in the basic speech communication course.
- An active scholarly agenda.
Preferred Qualification
- Skills/ability to integrate technology to enhance learning and teaching.
- Demonstrated commitment to quality teaching.
- Experience teaching within and across different communication research methods
- Preparation to incorporate digital communication into an undergraduate curriculum
- Demonstrated commitment to pedagogical innovation and excellence.
