The New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets is hiring for a Trades Generalist position to work in the Maintenance Departments Plumbing Unit at the New York State Fairgrounds. The Trades Generalist will be responsible for performing a range of duties in the repair and maintenance of facilities and equipment. This will include but will not be limited to the installation alteration and repair of pipes fittings and fixtures of heating ventilating heating control water and drainage systems according to specification and plumbing codes at the New York State Fairgrounds. The Fairgrounds are located at 581 State Fair Boulevard in Syracuse New York and offers a comfortable work environment complete with free parking. The Trades Generalist is a permanent fulltime position working 40 hours per week MondayFriday from 6:45 am to 3:15 pm. Salary: The Trades Generalist position is in the CSEA Salary Grade (SG) 12. The starting salary of the CSEA SG12 is $48956/year.
The candidate appointed at the Trades Generalist SG12 level will be eligible to participate in the New York State Performance Evaluation Program. Through this program employees receive yearly performance evaluations. Performance advances are payable to CSEA employees whose base annual salary is below the job rate for their current position and who were rated Satisfactory or its equivalent on their yearly performance evaluation. Performance advance payments are added to an employees annual salary. Over time yearly performance advances may lead to the SG12 job rate salary of $59757/ year! When required to operate motor vehicles candidates must possess a valid New York State drivers license appropriate for the type of vehicle to be operated. Preferred Qualifications: four years of experience in plumbing or a combination of plumbing experience and training by completion of technical courses in plumbing at a school institute or branch of the Armed Services.
