Job Summary
Performs routine and complex Neurodiagnostic studies according to ABRET Laboratory standards. Participates in crosstraining to achieve competency in specialized Neurodiagnostic procedures. Maintains clinical and professional competency as appropriate to the age developmental stage and special needs of the patients served.
Essential Functions
Physical Requirements
Work occurs in various patientcare areas including exam rooms patient rooms intensive care units and operating rooms. It requires periods of standing sitting walking lifting bending and moving heavy equipment to remote areas of the facility. Technologists must be able to work around other medical equipment and lift a minimum of 10 pounds shoulder high. Technologist must speak English in simple understandable terms and have an intact sense of sight and hearing. Departments may require metrowide afterhours call rotation.
Education Experience and Certifications
High School Diploma or GED required; graduate from an accredited Neurodiagnostic program with 3 years of experience preferred. BLS required. EEG registry or eligibility for EEG registry preferred. Board eligibility for ABRET certification in EEG is required within 2 years of hire and completion of ongoing departmental requirements for EEG board registry preparation is required within 3 years of hire. Ability to work independently with strong organizational skills. Strong oral and written communication skills with experience in dealing with sensitive issues/situations and conflict resolution. Ability to meet deadlines. Working knowledge of Good Clinical Practices (GCPs) and Guidelines.
