What Youll Do:

ELSA (Multilingual Learner Summer Academy) is a thematic projectbased language learning summer program that develops students English language proficiency. As a teacher in ELSA you will be responsible for providing thematic and projectbased English Language Development instruction to elementary age students. You will help students develop their language proficiency in English in all four domains of language (reading writing listening and speaking) through an inquirybased instructional approach. You will also be responsible for overseeing students during different parts of the day such as arrival breakfast lunch and dismissal as well as during field trips.

Role Responsibilities:

  1. Teaching and Learning
  • Lead students in developing their English language proficiency in all four domains of language (reading writing listening and speaking) through project and inquirybased thematic instruction
  • Collaborate with other ELSA teachers to design teach and assess learning that incorporates projectbased learning English language proficiency in all four domains of language and critical thinking and selfassessment.
  • Monitor and support students through different parts of the summer academy hours including arrival breakfast lunch and dismissal.
  • Participate in field trips and offsite learning experiences with students.
  • Evaluate select and prepare teaching resources that are relevant to the ELSA curriculum reflect the rich diversity of our learning community and support the academic success and personal growth of our students.
  • Deliver pre and post assessments to students to determine their growth during ELSA compile student data to inform instruction.
  • Attend ELSA planning meetings and data review sessions.
  • Additional duties as assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor
