We are looking for a journalist to cover provincial affairs across all of our platforms in Ontario. You will work as part of a team with other journalists and editorial staff to determine public interest topics and the best ways to present them to the public via the web radio video or social media. You will provide analysis to help readers listeners and viewers better understand provincial issues. The journalist is expected to take initiative and demonstrate independent judgment. The role may involve coordinating the activities of others and close collaboration with programming services is essential.
The candidate must have a flexible schedule. You may occasionally be required to work physically at the Ontario Legislative Assembly office.
You will report to the Head of Content for ICI Ontario and must adhere to the journalistic Standards and Practices of the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC).

Main responsibilites:
Follow and explain provincial news in all its aspects.
Listen to debates at the Legislative Assembly participate in scrums.
Develop original stories and analyses in compliance with our journalistic Standards and Practices.
Write articles make live interventions on the web radio and television.
Edit radio and video reports.
Participate in various TV radio and podcast programs related to politics.
Build a network of contacts with various political and government bodies.
Develop analyses to better explain provincial issues.
Generate story ideas and treatment strategies.
Engage with Ontarians to listen to their viewpoints and incorporate them into your reports.
Your profile:
University degree (or equivalent) in Journalism Communications Political Science or related fields
At least five 5 years of relevant experience in news services web radio and/or television
Ability to work quickly and under pressure
Ability to work in a team
Flexibility with working hours (including evenings and weekends) according to the needs of provincial news
Expertise on issues concerning Francophones in the province of Ontario
Relevant experience in preparing and delivering reports
Good understanding of how a newsroom operates and editorial practices
Knowledge of CBCs mandate and journalistic policies
Knowledge of the province of Ontario
A network of contacts with provincial stakeholders
Proficiency in French (spoken and written) and excellent command of English
A valid drivers license and the ability to travel throughout Ontario is an asset
Must be able to travel abroad
Demonstrated experience with access to information requests
Proven ability to work in a multiplatform environment
Ability to work independently
Resourcefulness and initiative
Outgoing personality and dynamism
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to plan organize and coordinate daily tasks while meeting tight deadlines; ability to work under pressure
Ability to prepare and write scripts for programs and broadcaststyle news writing
Strong communication skills with the ability to write and tell stories clearly and effectively
Good at simplifying complex topics for the audience
Analytical thinking and ability to synthesize information
Attention to detail and critical thinking
Proficiency in social media
