Job Description

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Oversees Quality Assurance programs staff development and clinical support in our skilled nursing facility. This role ensure compliance with federal state and facility policies identifies performance improvement opportunities and collaborates with leadership and staff to enhance resident outcomes.

Monitors and evaluates practices to ensure regulatory compliance. Leads data collection analysis and reporting for quality improvement. Develops and delivers staff education orientation and competency assessments. Ensures staff maintains certifications and ongoing training requirements. Provides clinical guidance assists with resident cares and support during staff shortages.

The person holding this position is delegated the responsibility for carrying out the assigned duties and responsibilities in accordance with current existing federal and state regulations and established company policies and procedures.

FUNCTIONS:

Quality Assurance
  1. Collect review and maintain data relative to quality related measures within the facility.
  2. Oversees the Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement program and coordinates with all facility departments to organize audits compile data identify trends and conduct regular meetings in compliance with state and federal regulations.
  3. Actively participates on multidisciplinary committees as requested and required.
  4. Collaborates with all departments to organize and implement Performance Improvement Projects (PIPs).
  5. Assists admission with monitoring activities related to any state survey related plan of correction activities and reports areas of noncompliance to the Administrator.
  6. Attend Board of Director meetings when requested to present reports related to quality measures and facility performance.
  7. Review QM QRP VBP and FiveStar reports to identify changes in the facilitys quality performance Prepare and provide a report of findings to QAPI committee to identify priority areas of improvement.
  8. Lead and conduct Steering Committee meetings.

Staff Development
  1. Supports and promotes practices consistent with the mission philosophy standards policies and procedures of the nursing department and the facility.
  2. Develop and implement monthly staff education topics in accordance with state and federal regulations.
  3. Assist with creating and presenting education topics as requested.
  4. Identifies educational needs based on review of completed incident and accident reports for employees and residents as needed.
  5. Coordinates annual clinical skills testing of CNAs licensed nurses and other department; coordinates staff skill competency checks as applicable.
  6. Assists the DON in reviewing and updating applicable policies and procedures.
  7. Willing to be flexible to meet education needs of employees on various shifts.
  8. Ensures inservice and training materials information videos etc. are up to date.
  9. Coordinates facility wide orientation for all new hires. Develop implement and maintain an effective orientation program to orient new staff to the facility the policies and procedures and their job duties.
  10. Follows up with new hires and assures concerns are managed in a timely and appropriate manner. Is available to receive and address any complaints that may arise and communicates complain to the appropriate supervisor.
  11. May perform other clinical duties as directed and not in violation of current department contracts.
  12. Works closely with department managers to fulfill required licenses certification renewals.
  13. Works closely with Infection Preventionist on Employee Health immunization and fit testing.
  14. Prepare and deliver instruction for Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) and Nurse Aide (NA) training programs ensuring students are equipped with necessary skills and knowledge to pass the certification exam and enter the healthcare field while also adhering to facility policies and regulatory requirements.
  15. Prepare and deliver instruction for Medication Assistant I and II training and support medication assistants in ensuring safe and effective medication administration while also adhering to facility policies and regulatory requirements.
  16. All other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:

License/Registration: Hold a current unencumbered license in this state as a registered nurse. Registered with the State Board of Registration in this state.
Continuing Education: As required to retain license and registration.
Education: Must be a graduate of a state approved school of vocational/practical or professional nursing.
Experience: At least two years of experience as a licensed nurse preferred.
Job knowledge: Nursing policies and procedures; administration of medication possible side effects and treatment as prescribed; federal state and local laws and regulations relating to resident care; comprehensive knowledge of nursing practices; physical psychological social and medical needs of residents; organizational structure and duties of employees under supervision of charge nurse. Experience in geriatric nursing and longterm care preferred.
Professional Memberships: Recommended and encouraged.
Other: Competence in supervision leadership caring attitude observant maintain good working relationship judgment and emotional stability
