Job Description
AstronicsPECO located in picturesque Clackamas Oregon near the foothills of Mt. Hood designs certifies manufactures and sells a wide range of products to commercial government and military markets throughout the world. Our highly engineered interior and structural aerospace products are supplied to the largest aircraft manufacturers and are installed in aircraft around the globe and our military products are used in critical national defense applications. The MaxViz enhanced visions systems (EVS) are designed and certified for use as an improvement to safety by a vast array of airplanes helicopters and unmannedaerialvehicles in the commercial government and military marketplace. PECOControls are well established temperature control devices designed for applications where high quality is a must such as the hospitality industry commercial cooking and other critical applications
We are looking for a Purchasing Manager tolead ourpurchasing team through strategic sourcing supply management longterm contract negotiation supplier evaluation and purchasing duties for existing commodities and New Product Introduction (NPI) projects.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage performance and relationship of offshore contract manufacturers and US suppliers to achieve best total cost of ownership for procured materials/services/tooling
- Lead a team of buyers purchasing raw materials electrical mechanical and electromechanical components subassemblies and finished goods
- Ensure orders are placed in a timely manner; measure and communicate supplier performance and PPV; manage inventory to meet company objectives
- Evaluate mitigate and communicate financial risks to the company
- Resolve supplier issues as they come up and use Root Cause & Corrective Action techniques to prevent their recurrence.
- Provide guidance and oversight for new supplier development and selection
- Drive cost reduction projects to meet company material spend reduction targets
- Oversee supplier contract management including long term agreements
- Conduct factory audits and supplier business reviews of current and potential suppliers
- Implement and maintain special purchasing programs with suppliers for favorable material flexibility including VMI PFEP and consignment
- Ensure that system parameters (forecast lead time etc) are maintained to optimize material availability while minimizing total cost through the product life cycle
- This position requires basic knowledge of SOX / 404 internal audit controls and related documentation and is responsible for the performance of various functions that are an integral part of the Companys overall SOX / 404 internal control structure
Requirements:
- Bachelors degree in business preferred. MBA is not required but is a plus
- Minimum of 5 years experience in supply chain in a highly regulated manufacturing environment (aerospace automotive or medical preferred)
- Proven ability to write reports business correspondence and operating procedures
- Deep knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and various MRP software platforms
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Should possess exceptional interpersonal communication skills
- Excellent negotiation skills and extensive knowledge of contract law
- Domestic and international travel required up to 10
