Job Description
The position is part time and as such cannot exceed 20 hours per week and is not eligible for health or leave benefits. However the position may offer educational benefits through our professional development and educational assistance policies. Located in the heart of Hampton Roads this diverse community is filled with multinational and multibilliondollar industries military installations colleges and universities national space science and research centers museums parks and hundreds of small businesses and community organizations that are the heartbeat to the region. This posting covers tutoring at all Virginia Peninsula Community College sites and campuses. These positions are hourly wage and do not guarantee a certain number of hours per week. The incumbent/s will be working on an asneeded basis; however all Tutors will have assigned hours to be present for tutoring. The Position: Under the supervision of the Tutoring Coordinator: Provide inperson individual tutoring to students requesting academic assistance in college courses in a facetoface setting. Participate in all required tutor training and workshops. Provide the Tutoring Coordinator with a schedule of availability that does not interfere with class schedule. Any schedule changes must be reported to the Tutoring Coordinator 24 hours in advance. Communicate with the Tutoring Coordinator about tutee absences and lateness as well as any additional issues that may arise. Maintain records of student contacts and statistics. Communicate clearly and effectively with students from all educational levels abilities and cultural backgrounds. Exercise patience in all learning situations. Maintain tutor/student confidentiality of all academic and personal information. Uphold high standards avoiding falsification and cheating. May be required to perform other duties as assigned. Tutors must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.7 and be in good academic standing.

MF Hours vary between 8 am 5 pm up to 20 hours/week
