Description

Reports To: Senior Associate Dean for Student Experience. Direct Reports: None

This position furthers the mission vision and goals of the College of Medicine and Methodist University. The position will work collaboratively to:

  • Assist with delivery of a comprehensive student experience programs and services that support the academic success personal wellbeing and professional development of medical students.
  • Ensures alignment with best practices in student experience as outlined in relevant frameworks (e.g. GSA Perf FrameOps Matrix Common Areas) and accreditation standards.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive campus environment that promotes student engagement leadership and a strong sense of community.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Leadership and Management:
    • Provide strategic leadership and vision to the Sr. Assoc Dean for Student Experience assisting with goal alignment with the overall mission and strategic plan of the medical school.
    • Develop and implement policies and procedures related to student conduct academic support student organizations and other areas of student life.
    • Collaborate with other departments within the medical school to ensure seamless delivery of student services.
  • Student Support and Advocacy:
    • Foster a positive and inclusive campus environment that promotes student engagement leadership and a strong sense of community. They will further the mission vision and goals of the College of Medicine and Methodist University and ensure that diversity equity inclusion and justice are properly attended to throughout the College of Medicine.
    • Assist with the provision of comprehensive student support services including academic advising personal counseling career counseling financial aid counseling and disability services.
    • Serve as a student advocate addressing student concerns and resolving conflicts fairly and equitably.
    • Develop and implement programs that promote student wellbeing resilience and mental health.
    • Ensure compliance with relevant federal and state regulations including Title IX ADA and FERPA.
  • Student Engagement and Development:
    • Foster a vibrant and inclusive campus community by supporting student organizations extracurricular activities and leadership development programs.
    • Develop and implement programs that promote student professional development
    • Collaborate with faculty to integrate student experience initiatives into the curriculum and learning environment.
  • Assessment and Improvement:
    • Stay current with best practices in student experience and higher education adapting programs and services as needed.
    • Participate in relevant professional organizations and conferences.
  • Compliance and Reporting:
    • Ensure compliance with all relevant accreditation standards and regulatory requirements related to student experience (Standards 36 1012.
    • Prepare and submit reports on student experience activities and outcomes as required.
  • Collaboration:
    • Work closely with the Sr. Associate Dean for Student Experience faculty staff and students to create a supportive and collaborative learning environment.
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with community partners to enhance student opportunities and resources.

Qualifications

Experience & Education:

  • 5 to 7 years of progressive experience in student experience preferably in a medical school or health professions school setting.
  • Masters degree in student affairs higher education administration counseling or a related field required. Doctoral degree preferred.
  • Strong understanding of student development theory best practices in student experience and relevant regulations (e.g. Title IX ADA FERPA).
  • Excellent communication interpersonal and problemsolving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse student populations.
  • Commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive campus environment.
  • Experience with student information systems and other relevant technologies.
  • Experience with accreditation processes related to medical school and student experience is a plus.

Credentials:

  • Doctoral Degree required; related field or higher education administration or related field is preferred.
  • Experience working with medical students.
  • Familiarity with the LCME accreditation process and the AAMC GSA Performance Framework for student experience assessment.
