The Montgomery County School Board in Virginia is now accepting applications for a grantfunded school counselor position that is available at Blacksburg Middle School for oneyear only.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The School Counselor will assist students with problems and decisions involved in understanding themselves and the world in which they live and will work. This individual will assist students in making decisions about their future schooling and occupational interests. They will also serve as a resource for parents/guardians teachers and other adults involved with the students.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

• Hold or be eligible for a Virginia Department of Education license with appropriate endorsement as a school counselor PreK12 or equivalent
• Hold a masters degree in counseling with an emphasis in school counseling
• Demonstrate an ability to support students by cooperatively working with school administrators parents/guardians and teachers
• Utilize Google Drive and possess expertise in using technology in education
• Create and maintain an inclusive supportive learning environment that respects the diverse backgrounds and needs of all students
• Communicate effectively with strong written verbal presentation and interpersonal skills
• Engage and collaborate effectively with parents and families
• Collaborate with other teachers and contribute to a positive team environment
• Demonstrate dependability punctuality and reliability in fulfilling responsibilities

PREFERENCE GIVEN FOR:

• Counselor and teaching experience

FLSA Status: Nonexempt

SALARY: $50072.26 $83120.04 annually; with benefits; commensurate with experience and prorated to start date
