As the Information Services Manager you will oversee and guide environmental data stewardship within the Ministry of Environment and Protected Areas. This unique role manages the content promotes governance and excellence and influences the development and improvement of environmental information systems that inform the government as well as its partners stakeholders and all citizens.
You will lead a team of technical specialists ensuring that vital environmental data related to Albertas air water land and biodiversity is handled efficiently maintained to the highest quality standards and readily accessible to inform analysis decisionmaking and public reporting.
In this role you will be at the forefront of environmental information management driving the development of cloudbased solutions and making big data more accessible. Your strategic decisions will help shape the direction of these systems while meeting regulatory requirements and achieving organizational goals such as those related to water quality biodiversity habitats or air emissions.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and mentor teams of environmental data specialists responsible for stewardship and distribution of environmental information.
Oversee and manage content within Albertas environmental information management systems ensuring data quality governance and accessibility.
Develop and enhance local data warehouses and emerging cloudbased technologies to support regulatory and environmental goals.
Ensure seamless data integration governance and quality assurance across systems.
Engage with diverse stakeholders including government agencies businesses Indigenous organizations and the public to promote data transparency and innovation.
Provide strategic leadership on environmental data management ensuring compliance with information management policies legislation and standards.

Required:
Education:
Bachelors degree in environmental science computer science or a related field.
Experience:
At least 3 years of leadership experience in managing content throughout its lifecycle including:
Developing maintaining and enhancing data and information systems.
Leading data specialist teams and managing multistakeholder projects.
Building networks and promoting a culture of quality and exemplary service.
Effectively communicating change to drive longlasting improvements.
Equivalency:
Related experience or education may be considered as an equivalency on a one for one basis.
Assets:
Certification in Data or Information Management and Project Management Professional (PMP).
Proven experience in reengineering or automating business processes.
Expertise in integrating data from multiple sources to meet diverse consumer needs.
Knowledge of provincial laws regulations and data standards.
Experience with GIS and related tools such as PowerBI SQL R or Python.

This fulltime permanent position is based in Edmonton Alberta.
The work schedule is Monday to Friday from 8:15 AM to 4:30 PM totaling 36.25 hours per week.
