Marmon is a $12 billion industrial conglomerate with over 200 industrial facilities in North America. Over the past 2 years the Innovation and Automation group has led or assisted with factory and robotic automation projects at multiple facilities and had remarkable success. Weve deployed dozens of new automation systems and pieces of factory equipment. Were now scaling our team process and reach to execute or assist with dozens of projects per year.Marmon is now looking for an engineer and leader with extensive process operations and LEAN experience to join our growing factory automation team. This role will involve 4070 travel. Have your home base at our Chicago or Houston innovation hubs one of our many manufacturing facilities or work remote during nontravel periods.
What Youll Do:
- Lead 34 simultaneous projects
- Act as individual contributor on 13 projects; mentor and guide Jr. engineers on 13 additional projects
- Mentor and guide others as required. Leadership opportunities available if desired
- Leverage Jr engineers for technical problem solving as needed
- Use your skills in process and LEAN to build project scopes which use automation technology to improve factory process flow and optimize ROI or other KPIs
- Map existing factory processes educate businesses on bottlenecks propose and implement future states which align with business growth and investment goals
- Own responsibility for technical project leadership. Use prior engineering knowledge or gain new knowledge to be the project technical expert
- Use engineering knowledge and subject matter experts to architect automation solutions
- Spearhead technology research to deliver stateoftheart processes and designs
- Work across multiple facilities with separate stakeholder teams and processes
- Work with project managers to set and manage goals deliverables and timelines
- Build payback models and assist in writing capital requests
- Use existing Marmon automation implementation process to guide your workflow
- Update and improve Marmon processes as you learn. Contribute to shared knowledge base
- Attend trade shows vendor visits etc. to become a rounded industry expert on current state of the art technologies and implementation strategies
- Teach and mentor businesses to continue executing projects

What Youll Bring to the Role:
- Preferred degree areas: Mechanical engineering Industrial engineering Automation engineering and Project management / Operations
- 515 years work experience in Operations Process engineering LEAN Automation and similar
- Comfortable in ambiguous situations where requirements may be unclear
- Comfortable setting your own agenda to accomplish goals when needed
- Comfortable in factory environments
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Knowledge of LEAN principles
- 4070 travel domestic
- Strong organizational skills
- MUST be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship
